Here at The Urban List, we’re partial to a cocktail… or three. So, when we heard Redfern had gotten itself a brand-new retro-inspired drinks and dining venue, it’s safe to say we made a beeline for the bar.
Perched on George St, Redfern, Misfits boasts a drool-worthy cocktail list (shout out to the Smoked Paloma), local craft beers on tap (rumour has it there's over 14 different varieties), plus a seriously-impressive wine list that tours Australia and abroad.
Curated by renowned chef James Privett, the casual dining menu is perfect for sharing (or to keep for yourself – no judgement), with highlights including smoky beef tartare with charcoal crisps, charred WA octopus with romesco and confit pork belly with house made blood pudding.
Vegetarians are spoilt for choice as well, with roast Jerusalem artichokes, zucchini, herbed ricotta, celeriac and a dusting of toasted nori powder or a fried slab of silken tofu topped with seasonal baby vegetables, bathed at the table in a roast potato broth. Anyone else salivating already?
Opened by the legends behind The Glenmore, The Royal and Tudor Hotel, Misfits is decked out with a Mid-Century retro vibe (think: 50s, 60s, 70s), and ticks all the boxes: sophisticated, edgy and a touch of Redfern hipster.
So, whether you’re looking for a pre-dinner cocktail stop or somewhere to settle in for the night, we think we might have found your new favourite spot. Oh, and they’ll be pouring chilli margaritas too. Yas!
