You know it's a thing when Beyonce and Jay-Z are big fans, right?
Roberta's is an iconic Brooklyn pizza place with a big cult following, including Bey and Jay, and is on just about every New York City 'must eat' list in existence. Concealed between warehouses in Bushwick, the restaurant houses a local food-based radio station (unsure what pizza programming goes on here), serves a mean brunch and a killer tequila cocktail called A$AP Julio. Since kicking off in Brooklyn, Roberta's has opened an LA outpost, a bakery, and a two-Michelin-starred restaurant called Blanca.
The good news? Roberta's is heading to Surry Hills for one night only next week.
Head Chef and Owner, Carlo Mirarchi and his “mother” dough starter will be popping up at Firedoor on Sunday 9 December for one hell of a lit, firey afternoon—and the first time Firedoor's two wood-fired ovens will be fired up for pizza-making.
Dubbed 'Fire and Slice', the event will be a true collaboration of flavours between Carlo and Firedoor head chef Lennox Hastie.
To drink, there'll be a selection of Belvedere vodka cocktails, and Messina have chipped in with a Neapolitan ice cream made from the milk from their own Jersey cows, their own chocolate, and fresh strawberries from their farm.
Roberta's will be bringing the Brooklyn vibes too: loud tunes and limited-edition merch (including a t-shirt designed by tattoo artist JED). More info is here.
