9 Sneakers Being Released In December That You Need To Own

By Sophie Hodges - 30 Nov 2018

December is the most expensive time of year, it feels like all I do is spend money on food, drinks and Christmas gifts for family and friends.

So, in the spirit of giving, you should give….to yourself. We’ve wrapped up all the best sneakers coming out this month. Throw caution (and your savings account) to the wind—we’re going shopping.

adidas UltraBOOST 4.0 “Triple Black”

Releasing in arguably the most popular colourway, the “Triple Black” UltraBOOST is an excellent addition to your sneaker rotation. Covered in Primeknit upper, the entire silhouette is blacked out, including the Three Stripes cage overlay. Along with being a sleek silhouette, the UltraBOOST also holds some of adidas’ best performance technology.

Carhartt WIP x Nike Air Max 95

Image: Nike

Part of the four silhouette collaboration, the Carhartt WIP x Nike Air Max 95 is my pick of the bunch. Putting the Carhartt WIP touch on classic Nike silhouettes, the Air Max 95 has a camo upper, with pops of orange (excellent colour combo). The Air Max 95 silhouette is timeless, and this release takes it to another level.

Eric Emanuel x adidas Originals Crazy BYW

Image: adidas

adidas Originals have collaborated with NYC designer Eric Emanuel to create this contemporary sneaker. The 90’s inspired basketball silhouette is decked out in an excellent colourway; maroon and cream with highlights of pink and yellow and a subtle tan toebox. Featuring a pretty loud BOOST sole, the leather and suede dressed upper make it extremely wearable.

Nike Air Max Plus “Greedy”

Perfect for a hard flex. The "Greedy" brings together to two of the silhouettes iconic colourways, “Hyperblue” and “Sunset”. Split bang down the middle, the TPU cages both halves, with the colour split continuing to the midsoles. These are sick.

Nike Air Fear of God 1

Image: Sneaker Bar Detroit

This collab is unlike any other Nike collaboration we’ve seen—Fear of God founder and creative director, Jerry Lorenzo, has completely reimagined the sneaker as we know it. The silhouette has been repped by the likes of LeBron James and P.J. Tucker, so you know it’s legit. The minimalist design features a mini swoosh, arguably the subtlest brand callout. You can check out more about the collab here.

Air Jordan 8 Tinker “Air Raid”

Image: Nike

Let’s start with a little history lesson. Tinker Hatfield is Nike royalty. He’s designed some of the brands biggest silhouettes; the Air Jordan 3 to the 15, the Air Jordan XX, XXIII and XXV, the Nike Air Trainer, Air Max 1, and Infrared Air Max 90. These Jordan’s are part of the Air Jordan x Nike Icons Collection, and these particular AJ8’s drawn on inspiration from Tinker’s signature designs. Primary black, the silhouette is close to that of a throwback Air Raid. The coloured graphic pays homage to the Air Raid II (circa 1993) and the cross-strap system and branded ankle strap are also worth a call out.

Concepts x Nike Kyrie 5 “Ikhet”

Image: Nike

The detailing on these bad boys is exceptional. Taking inspiration from Kyrie’s hand-tattoo, inspired by Egypt’s ancient pyramids, Concepts and Nike haven’t missed a beat. The sand coloured upper and purple sole are reflective of the sunset setting over the Egyptian pyramids. The red tongue, a tribute to the Sphinx’s nose prior to its degradation. With subtle Concept’s branding and Kyrie’s signature logo, we’d say these are well worth coping.

Fear of God x Nike Air Skylon II

Image: Sneaker Bar Detroit

Another piece from the highly anticipated Fear of God x Nike collaboration, and rightfully so. Fear of God designer Jerry Lorenzo’s take on the Air Skylon II is legit. In my opinion, the highlight is the toggle lacing system, replacing your regular laces. Tonal colourways, yes. Mesh upper, yes. Patent leather Swoosh, yes. It’s a firm yes from us.
