Bacon, crackling, and pretty much everything pork related lovers, listen up: Sydney's absolute favourite bacon related festival, Pig Fest is back for it's second huge year—and it's on for FREE! Given that literally everyone (sorry, vegans, but there's a treat for you at the end) loves pork in all of its forms, we think it's more than fair to say this is, without a doubt, 2017 peaking. So what's going down? Glad you asked, because holy moly, there's a lot going on.
Much like last year's successful premier, this year will be hosted in the carpark of the Public House Petersham, except this year, it's going to be bigger, better, and presumably, a lot porkier. Prepare your taste buds for a whole pig on the spit, a seriously delicious smoked pork belly roll, and BBQ pork skewers—oh Lordy, we're already salivating. There will also be pulled pork burgers and smoked pork ribs straight from The Erko's award-winning smoker to sate your appetite. And if you thought for one second they'd leave dessert off the pork agenda, you'd be kidding yourself. Allow us to introduce you to their epic pork fat doughnuts, served with vanilla ice cream and maple bacon.
If, for some obscure reasoning, you aren't absolutely crazy for pork, there will also be vegetarian and gluten free options available on the day, because everyone deserves good food.
Plus, you really can't have a car park shin dig without ice-cold beer, so expect a handful of local breweries to be popping up, too. Think Young Henrys, Batch, Stone & Wood, and Grifter. As if that wasn't enough, because Public House Petersham loves us there's even going to be mulled cider on hand, and a fat-wash bourbon cocktail...all of which you can enjoy while in total bacon and pork heaven.
The perfect accompaniment to delicious food and great drinks is, of course, a live DJ, so you can bet your bottom dollar Pig Fest has that covered too with Gonzo on the decks playing vinyls.
