There's no shortage of stunning beaches in Sydney. BUT, summer calls for a road trip, so we have roundup the best day jaunts that are sure to 'wet' your bathing appetite. What better way to revel in the warm weather than with the sand between your toes . . .

These beach destinations are easily accessible by car and are within a couple of hours drive from the Sydney CBD.

Sydney's Best Beach Day Trips

This spectacular coastal setting offers a protected beach, fishing and prawning, and great scuba-diving locations. The main beach, Abrahams Bosom, features picnic grounds and BBQ facilities—so lunch is sorted! If you're in the mood for walking, head to Wreck Walk to spot the remains of SS Merimbula, which was shipwrecked in 1928.

With a reach from Shoalhaven Heads to Gerroa, this coastal strip is packed with sightseeing options. Head up to the lookout for sweeping views, or wander through the forest for unique wildlife spotting. There are loop-walking tracks scattered throughout the forest and along the beach. After working up an appetite, rest up at the Beach Road picnic area where you can laze below the tea trees and banksias—it's idyllic .

Close enough for a quick getaway, Palm Beach is Sydney's little slice of heaven. Get there early and start the day with a tasty breakfast at The Boathouse, before taking a dip in the sparkling blue waters. In the afternoon, embark on the stunning walk up to Barrenjoey Lighthouse, which sits at Sydney's most northern point. Whether you choose the relaxed walking track, or the steeper and shorter trek, the views at the top are well worth the effort. While you're north side, check out Whale Beach, Avalon, Newport or Narrabeen.

Pristine beaches and rolling green hills, Kiama beach features spectacular natural scenery, and is the perfect day trip from Sydney. Be sure to visit Kiama's famous blowholes and rock pools. On the cliffs at Blowhole Point waves surge into an underground cavity, are compressed and forced upwards into the air. Head to the Pilot's Cottage Museum for a good dose of history, then meander through the sleepy town, and enjoy alfresco-style cafes and wineries. While in the area, Gerringong and Shellharbour are also worth a visit.
Located 11km north of Wollongong's CBD, this idyllic coastline offers a backdrop of sand dunes and large parklands. Quaint villages, surfing spots, mountain top lookouts and waterfalls surround—plus, the new Sea Cliff Bridge offers remarkable ocean views. A former coal-mining village, Bulli is steeped in history.

Rounding off our list of the best beach day trips from Sydney, Bundeena comprises four spectacular beaches, including Horderns, Gunyah, Bonnie Vale and Jibbon. Offering fantastic swimming, snorkeling, fishing and kayaking spots, there's plenty to keep you entertained in this hidden paradise. Coastal walks extend along beautiful seaside cliffs and feature Aboriginal rock engravings. There are ample picturesque picnic spots and camping grounds, which make for a fabulous weekend in the great outdoors.
