Pu'er is the ultimate modern Asian tea house, with one of the most elegant ways to do yum cha in Sydney (seriously, you may or may not bump into Margaret Zhang while you're here!). The beautiful dumplings are hand made and tea steamed for extra fragrance, so even if you’re not a tea drinker, Pu’er might just turn you into one!
Sip delicately alongside steamers of Shanghai soup dumplings and sui mai, enjoying a bit of tea theatre while you’re at it. The dumplings and food will keep everyone happy, while the tea offering will manage to impress the most serious of aficionados.
Beyond the dumplings lies a treasure trove of other Asian influences, with a little hint of owner Siev Gour's Australian upbringing. With a Chinese Cambodian background, you'll struggle to choose between his Mum's wombok free range chicken salad, the meltingly tender Shangdong chicken with crispy skin, or the wagyu black bean bao. More recently Siev has added his signature range of black sesame bao burgers, which are not to be missed for lunch. The nutty, sweet and soft bun is the perfect bedfellow for the wagyu pattie (there's also a spiced lamb, Korean Fried Chicken and tofu and haloumi variety), which is seared to a satisfying crunch on the outside while retaining plenty of juicy #getinmybelly lust in the middle. Check out the video below for details!
Into the evening the teas get a modern shake up too in a range of delicious cocktails, making us want to try even more of the decadent plates to share off the menu for dinner.
