The silly season brings with it many things: Kris Kringle pressies that’ll likely be regifted next year, boozed up relatives and that awkward, annual decision of which side of the family you’ll be spending Christmas day with. It’s not all festive faux pas, though—one such thing that’s universally loved this time of the year are Christmas markets.

And wouldn’t you know it, the state of Victoria is pretty good at them. It’s still early days, though several have already been announced in the city and further afield. Here are the best Christmas Markets in Melbourne and Victoria.

QVM Christmas Market

CBD

A hot contender for one of the city’s best Christmas markets is the String Bean Alley Christmas Night Market hosted in one of the open-air thoroughfares at Queen Victoria Market. Details are still under wraps on this year's celebrations, though you can expect all the jolly details to drop soon.

Best of all, there will be gourmet food trucks serving Christmas-inspired food and drinks, and a Curatif Cocktail Bar for when you need that little pick-me-up halfway through your shopping. With all the stocking-stuffers and a plethora of curated stalls, The Good Food & Wine Show Christmas Market is definitely set to be one of the best Christmas Markets for 2022 in Melbourne.

YARRA VALLEY

We do love a picturesque drive and heading down to the Yarra Valley definitely counts. It’s only an hour away from Melbourne so there’s no excuse not to visit the Yarra Glen Twilight Christmas Market, which is definitely one of the best Christmas Markets you’ll find. There will be plenty of cosy stalls with handmade gifts, plus a ton of cute little patches you can find to have a little picnic and listen to the live music they have going throughout the day and into the evening.

Victoria is vast, and there are almost too many places to visit, but Warrnambool is definitely one of them. Their famous Sunday Markets which take place on the scenic Civic Green are transformed into little Christmas wonderlands during every Sunday in December prior to Christmas. Snag a Christmas pudding while you’re there, or just enjoy the cheerful vibes.

Port Melbourne’s Artisan Christmas Market

PORT MELBOURNE

The Christmas Spirit is strong in this one. No doubt one of the city’s favourite—and best—Christmas Markets is returning for cheery ol’ time this December. As always, it’s backed by Rotary and City of Port Phillip who always put community front of mind, and after the year or so that’s been, they’ll be propping up local producers, makers and artisans like never before. A whopping 8,000 attendees came through last year, so we don’t need to tell you to get there early, do we?
