Perth’s Best Dessert Cafes

Perth's Best Dessert Cafes

If Nigella has taught us anything, it’s that sometimes we all just want to be seduced by a chocolate counter. Word.

We don’t care where the dessert cafe thing came from, we’re just happy it’s made its way to Perth and that eating treats as a main meal is now acceptable. So next time those sugar cravings hit, throw away your copy of I Quit Sugar and head to one of Perth’s best dessert cafes.

Sherbet Cafe & Bake Shop

Maylands

Walking into Sherbet is a bit like eating a slice of warm apple pie at your Nanna’s house. It’s the perfect amount of retro cosy with all the classics for an afternoon of tea and generously portioned treats. We have it on good authority that these guys do the best red velvet cake in town.

Measure

Mount Lawley

The fact that it’s owned and run by MasterChef extraordinaire and Perth local, Karmen Lu, is just an added bonus at Measure. The real reason we love this place is a little thing called a peanut butter bavois with popcorn and salted caramel. How does she know all the best things?

Koko Black

Perth & Claremont

Koko Black might not be cheap, but you know what they say about getting what you pay for. Everything churned out here is top quality and you can taste it! If you struggle to justify ordering a hot chocolate as an adult, then first of all you are wrong, and second, you need to taste Koko Black’s. Because whoever doesn’t enjoy a mug of melted chocolate to warm up their tootsies on a winters afternoon does not belong in our friendship group

Bites By D

Mount Hawthorn

There’s not much we don’t love about high tea at Bites By D (BYO champagne is just the cherry on top), but if you don’t have time for high tea, why not just pop in for one of those amazing desserts? Each one is a perfect little piece of art which you might think is too pretty to eat at first, but after one bite you’ll change your mind and demolish every last crumb.

Rochelle Adonis

Highgate

We all know and love Rochelle (first name basis flies here) for different reasons. Whether it’s her infamous nougat, her stunning garden lunches or her cake decorating skills that are off the Richter scale, it doesn’t really get much better. Now if we could only find a good excuse to have high tea in her Pinterest perfect living room, that’d be great thanks.

Iluma Fine Foods

West Leederville

One of the newest additions to the Perth dessert scene is Iluma. You’ve probably seen their delectable treats around town but they are just about to open their newest spot on Cambridge Street. These little bites are as heavenly as you could imagine plus, a portion of their profits go to support up and coming women in Perth! It doesn’t get much better than that!

Little Matcha Girl

Como

People who say they don’t like fancy green tea powder clearly have never been to the South Perth institution that is Little Matcha Girl. What can we say? They had us at the Matcha Opera cake. Warning: people have been known to book a holiday to Japan within seven days of dining here (or was that just us?).
