The Verdict

Summer means one thing— sitting in the sun with a couple of brewskies in hand watching the world pass you by. We don’t know about you, but that sounds like the ultimate Saturday arvo to us.

Well, we know the perfect spot to do exactly that— say hello to Brewport, Ponsonby’s only micro-brewery and beer garden.

Located in the heart of Ponsonby, in the spot where Gypsy Caravan used to be, Brewport is taking brewing to new heights as it’s inspired by all things air travel, in fact, the team and brains behind the new beer spot are made up of former Air New Zealand crew who are setting off on new adventures after being grounded due to COVID.

A collaboration between Airline Captain Greg, his partner Kim who was a flight attendant for 23 years, and Andy, a frequent flyer, brewmaster and former owner of Brothers Beer. Put the three together and you’ve got pure magic.

Serving up a variety of craft beers, four of which are brewed in-house and also a range of guest pours on offer too such a the Urbanaut Roxbury Hazy IPA, Epic Armageddon, Garage Project Hapi Daze and heaps more, there is literally a tipple for everyone. The best part is they’ll be switching up their beer list quite frequently, which means you could be sampling a new beer each week. Score.

If beer is not really your thing, don’t sweat it as Brewport has a great selection of wines and also some cheeky cocktails to keep those inflight nerves at bay. The Aperol Cider Spritz is a must-try—it’s the perfect refreshing summer tipple.

While you’re at it indulge in a gourmet hot dog from Flying Dogs, an onsite caravan eatery dishing up some tasty dogs, loaded fries, tots, pretzels and more. Don’t worry, this is anything but your typical plane food.

Brewport is sure to take-off, so if you’re after a pint or even a flight (of beer, of course) then be sure to check-in to Ponsonby’s newest spot, where the beer is flowing, the vibe is outgoing and the world-class service is simply glowing.
