As the temperature drops in Adelaide, the need for comfort food returns. And what screams "cozy and warm" more than a classic roast dinner. Chicken, beef, lamb or pork, the British traditional pub meal is one the finest exports to arrive in Australia from the motherland and Adelaide's offerings across classic pubs and contemporary dining rooms with a modern twist are giving off some serious heat this year.

The best part? Most of these roasts aren't religated to Sundays only, served up every day as part of the regular menu. So get cozy and scroll on for the best roast dinners in Adelaide right now. Winter 2026, we're so ready for you.

The Belair Hotel

141 Main Road, Blackwood

Located in Blackwood, in the leafy Adelaide Hills, The Belair Hotel, formerly known as The Blackwood Inn, was established in 1869 by Robert Burfield, before getting a major revamp in 2009.

Such lore warrants a class-act roast, and The Belair doesn't disappoint with its twice-cooked lamb shoulder, served with garlic-crusted roast potatoes, pumpkin and roast carrot and broccoli, with a must-have mint jelly and tradtitional gravy. Mr. Burfield-approved.

Omada

46 Currie Street, Adelaide

Omada might not do a traditional pub roast per se, but once a month the gods of Mediterranean cuisine do their own special take on the roast ritual: the Sunday Spit Roast -- a whole lamb and octopus turned slowly over coal, drawing people in by the aromas as they walk by on Leigh Street.

While coal-roasted meat is the main affair, you can also expect a bevy of seasonal sides, stretched out across a long sharing table that allows for connection with old and new friends. Less pub roast, more Greek family feast.

Kent Town Hotel

76 Rundle Street, Kent Town

For one of the most quintessentially British Sunday roasts, you can't beat Kent Town Hotel. This neo-Brit pub offers a selection of four meats: roast pork with apple puree, roast beef basted with hot English mustard, roast lamb wtith mint jelly, and roast chicken rosemarry, garlic and spices.

They'll even throw in an authentic Yorshire pudding in, if you ask nicely. Can't decide which roast to have? Come back and try 'em all.

Palais Hotel

86 Esplanade, Semaphore

Sat along the stunning Semaphore esplanade, the Palais Hotel does a contemporary luxe take on the roast classic serving up South Australian-sourced pork surrounded by crispy potatoes, butter-roasted carrots, baby peas, corn, house gravy, and topped with a scrummy apple and cinnamon chutney. Served daily, a gluten-free option is also avaible upon request, making this the people's roast on the coast.

Earl of Leicester

85 Leicester Street, Parkside

At the Earl of Leicester, Sundays are all about a hearty roast done right. Every Sunday, this gorgeous dark sandstone pub offers a selection of roast beef, lamb and pork, served with all the classic lashings: roast potatoes, seasonal greens, a Yorkshire pudding, pig in a blanket, and its recently added (and already very popular) cauliflower cheese.

Lunch service usually sells out before 2 p.m (so get in quick) before the dinner session commences at 5 p.m. Got a big group or special event? The Earl also offers a British Feast with a selection of roasts and sides served shared-style in its function room—perfect for a relaxed, family-style Sunday gathering with friends and family. Sign us up.

The Stanley Bridge Tavern

While it's not-so traditional in the classic roast sense, the Stanley Bridge Tavern does a succulent roast pork shoulder with an Australiana twist.

Designed to be served for two, the pork is served in an apple cider and fennel reduction with fried rosemary potatoes and a rocket, radichio and orange salad. It's a lighter-on-the-trimmings take on the typical roast dinner, but feel free to add side of sauteed greens if your'e feeling that way inclined. More is more when it comes to roast dinner.

Arab Steed Hotel

241 Hutt Street, Adelaide

If you're wanting a roast that reminds you of grandma's home-made Sunday lunch, come to the Arab Steed Hotel. The CBD-based hotel serves a daily roast that changes regularly, surrounded by a healthy amount of veges and roast potatoes, doused in gravy.

There are two sizes available too, so you can decided how big you wanna go based on how hungry you are. While it's not the most fancy roast dinner out there, it certainly tastes good and hits the spot.

The Goody

75 Goodwood Road, Goodwood

It you're a vege lover, come to The Goody for your next roast dinner. This southside family-run pub serves up a daily roast dinner packed with loads of the good stuff: roast potatoes, carrots, parsnip, pumpkin, and broccoli (hello, veges) topped with a delicious gravy.

Again, there's two sizes of roast on offer, but we say 'go big or go home' when it comes to ordering your next roast dinner.

Malt Shovel Taphouse

Festival Drive, Adelaide

Located conveniently next to the house of footy, the Adelaide Oval, the Malt Shovel Taphouse offers a Sunday roast that goes beyond just your typical meat and three veg. Introducing the Feast Platter, a roast-style planche starring Murray Valley roasted pork, free range house-seasoned roasted chicken, and medium rare pasture-fed striploin, served with baby chat potatoes and roasted seasonal vegetables. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any juicier, choose from two of their delicious sauces: rich red wine jus, buttery hot sauce, smoky Alabama BBQ sauce, or traditional gravy, designed to drizzle lavishly over your feast.

And what’s better than eating all of your own? Sharing, of course, with the Feast Platter served for two or four people. Perfect for anything from a laid-back catch-up, to a bigger group Sunday session after the footy. Game on.

The Elephant British Pub

1 Cinema Place, Adelaide

Affectionately referred to by locals as "the Elly", the Elephant British Pub looks like it stepped straight out of the film "The Holiday", with its Tudor-era, dark wooden beams mimicking the structural timber frames of old English houses, but with a modern, Aussie twist, of course.

While Cameron Diaz and Jude Law won't exactly be found cozying up indoors, you will find inside a countryside-worthy roast (which changes weekly) served with roast potatoes, broccolini, carrots, peas, and of course, a Yorkshire pudding, topped with lashings of flavoursome gravy. Who needs Hollywood, anyway?
