While we’re always impartial to a freshly-baked spiced hot cross bun for Easter (or dozen, with butter), Tāmaki Makaurau has a huge line-up of epic Easter treats in store. From doughnuts to gelato, or make it a complete weekend affair with an Easter High Tea—these are our picks for the Best Easter Treats for 2026 (and you’ll have to get your hands on them quick, before they disappear).

Here are the Best Easter Treats in Auckland this year.

Hot Cross Bun Caramel Vanilla Doughnuts | The Pantry

Park Hyatt Auckland 99 Halsey Street, Auckland CBD

Image credit: The Pantry at Park Hyatt | Supplied

You’d be tempted not to scoff one of these on the drive back from pick-up—they’re one of most indulgent Easter bakes I’ve had. The talented Executive Pastry Chef Callum Liddicoat and his pastry team have brought back their popular hot cross bun-inspired doughnuts for the Easter season.

Brioche dough is folded through with earl grey tea-soaked sultanas, citrus peel and a heavenly spice mix (we’re talking cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, coriander, tonka bean, black pepper, cardamom and cloves)—fried fresh, and then filled with a generous ratio of custard and spiced fruit compote (made up of orange, sultanas, currants and raisins). Choose from vanilla, or my personal fave—house-made whipped caramel custard, in a 4 pack, 6 pack or 10 pack.

Pricing: from $28

Ao Cacao’s Easter Range | Ao Cacao

Online

Image credit: Ao Cacao | Supplied

We’re big fans of Tāmaki Makaurau-based Ao Cacao, and their Easter chocolate range is everything we want for Easter chocolates. From Easter bon bons and Easter eggs, to baking and spreads (to go on freshly-toasted hot cross buns, of course)—Ao Cacao has got you. Dip into a jar of salted caramel topped with chocolate, or our pick being the Noisette Cacao Jar. Made with a decadent combo of hazelnuts, chocolate and rare vanilla—it will level up your toasted hot cross bun. Their elegant Easter bonbons include fillings like mānuka and burnt butter, date sponge and rum caramel with vanilla ganache (a.k.a. sticky toffee pud), as well as a hot cross bun-inspired filling in the form of spiced praline, raisin caramel and ganache.

Don’t go for a regular chocolate Easter egg this year—we’re eyeing up the Ao Cacao Sticky Toffee Noisette Egg. Coming in two flavours, one half is filled with sticky toffee pud and caramel sauce—filled to the brim, and encased in a thick, milk chocolate shell. The other half, filled with hazelnut praline, caramel and feuilletine in a dark chocolate shell—the best of both (chocolate) worlds. Oh and did we mention it comes with rum butter chewy caramels and malted milk chocolate truffles too? Heavenly.

Pricing: Noisette cacao jar ($23), Easter Bonbons Collection 16 pcs (59), Sticky Toffee Noisette Egg 530g ($85).

Made To Order S’mores And PBJ Gelato Easter Egg | Bear Gelato x Ao Cacao

327 Dominion Road, Mount Eden

Not only are we here for chocolate this Easter, but when there’s gelato involved, you’ve got us listening. These two talented artisan brands are back with their gelato Easter egg collab—this time with not one, but two flavours.

After debuting last year with a mānuka honeycomb number, they’re bringing the heat with a torched to order burnt marshmallow and graham cracker gelato with a chocolate ganache “yolk” centre, reminiscent of campfire s’mores, as well as a nod to PBJ with their second flavour, peanut butter gelato with mixed berry compote and berry “yolk.” Made with Ao Cacao’s 70% single-origin dark chocolate shell, each egg weighs around a whopping 550g, and made to serve 4-5 people. Made to order, try your luck to see if they have any left—or head to Bear Gelato for a scoop of their hot cross bun gelato instead (with Ao Cacao’s Easter treats from the website).
