Fact: seafood tastes a trillion times better when it’s sustainably caught—and no one knows this better than Auckland’s breathtaking restaurant, FISH. Overlooking the Waitemata Harbour, the restaurant pairs stunning views with sustainability caught seafood and local produce... and the results are divine!
Located on the ground-floor of the Hilton, FISH is sure to impress. Floor-to-ceiling windows showcase views of the waterfront and the glistening harbour (date night, anyone?). The light, bright and beautiful décor stars light woods, plush seating and a whooole lot of ocean-side vibes.
Sustainability comes first, with FISH sourcing seafood from local suppliers who let them have the first pick of the daily catch. Produce is also sourced locally with the seasons dictating the ever-changing menu. Better yet, all seafood on the menu is MSC-certified (aka meets the standard for sustainable fishing) to ensure future generations get to enjoy our oceans. On ya, FISH!
To celebrate the cooler months this year, FISH is hosting a three-month Winter Food and Wine Series. And, as the name suggests, the event is all about fresh-as-can-be seafood paired with three (yes, three) wine tasters for just $39. The perfect (wallet-friendly!) combo, right?
Each month will showcase a unique dish and type of wine—giving you the excuse to visit again (and again). Visit over June and you’ll be treated to sashimi and sav (with salmon, snapper and market fish) alongside three tastings of savvy blanc.
Visit again in July for shellfish and Riesling (think: a warming chili coconut clam dish). Lastly, August is all about crustaceans and chard with a rosemary and charcoal-roasted king crab with three tastings of chardonnay. One thing’s for certain: you’ll find us here all. winter. long.
But FISH’s Winter Series is just the beginning. All year round, you’ll find mouth-watering delicacies. Start with freshly shucked oysters, tiger shrimp and hot rock snapper with a fragrant combo of ginger, chili, kaffir lime and coconut.
For mains, you’re spoilt for choice with crayfish mac’n’cheese (it’s to die for), banana prawns, char siu toothfish and classic battered snapper alongside the all-important thick-cut chips. If you’re visiting with your squad, we suggest the sashimi platter or a mammoth Karitane crayfish. Sign us up!
Wash it all down with a glass (or two) of wine from their extensive list or celebrate by popping a bottle of Champers. Save room for dessert because there’s a warm roasted pear tart calling your name.
So, what are you waiting for? Sit back, relax and take in those stunning views. There’s no doubt about it: FISH is really something special.
