Goldie’s Bar & Yard

Takapuna has officially welcomed a little slice of the Wild West with the arrival of Goldie’s Bar & Yard, a new country-inspired venue bringing Southern comfort food, cocktails and late-night energy to Hurstmere Road.

Part Palm Springs hangout, part honky-tonk watering hole, Goldie’s is built for long lunches that roll into sunset drinks and lively nights out. The sprawling venue hosts 174 patrons (yes, it's big) and features a sun-soaked outdoor courtyard with a retractable roof, cosy booths for group hangs and a lively bar complete with pool table, disco ball and mechanical bull for those feeling brave enough to saddle up. Go on, you know you want to.

The menu leans into bold American-inspired flavours with dishes like fried chicken slathered in bourbon BBQ sauce, jalapeño honey butter Texan toast, loaded fries and the show-stopping Honky Tonk Hammer—a giant slow-roasted beef shin designed for sharing. Drinks are equally playful, from spicy watermelon mezcal cocktails to frozen-style peach tea sips and Goldie’s own exclusive brews.

“We’ve always loved how connected and loyal the Takapuna community is, there’s a real energy here,” says Star Group CEO Sam Egerton. “With Goldie’s, we wanted to create a space that adds something new to the mix, somewhere welcoming where people can settle in for the afternoon and stay right through into the night.”

With line dancing nights, live country music and DJs all on the cards, Goldie’s Bar & Yard is here for a good time (and very likely a late one too).
