Authentically Kiwi—that’s what Goode Brothers are all about when it comes to their Italian-inspired gastropub. Part bar, part restaurant, part pasta school, there’s plenty of good (dare we say great?) dishes to enjoy at Goode Brothers.
Running for a limited time until the end of August, the Goode Brothers Pasta School guides you through the delicate process of handmade pasta. Guests are welcome to take their dough home with them (and prove to your Nonna that your cooking skills do in fact, exist), plus you’ll learn the art of matching pasta to sauce. As much as we love handfuls of grated parmesan, there are other ways to enjoy that ravioli.
Classes are followed by a sit-down dinner with wine and your cooking mates. Smugness and preening is encouraged. Classes run every Wednesday and Thursday evening, at Botany, New Lynn and Northwest locations.
If your cooking skills are strictly limited to anything that’s microwavable, Goode Brothers have a DIY pasta menu so you can customise so your plate is just right (extra cheese for us, pls). Choose between al dente options including linguine, cheese tortellini or gnocchi and pair it with sauce combinations like slow cooked lamb (chilli, roasted herb jus, crispy polenta gremolata), roasted pumpkin (beetroot, chilli, peas and herbs) or classic beef bol.
Crispy-crusted pizza, pub-style meals and giant meals designed to share are also on the menu. Think: Metre Long Pizzas (it’s not a hyperbole), the share pasta bowl or Goode platter.
Tail end your meal with a dessert, and you’ve got a night out that’s pretty bloody good-eh?
