A Saturday morning trip to Matakana is pretty much on every Aucklander’s agenda, but when you’re finished at the markets, head across the road to the historic Matakana Village Pub for something to eat and a drink. Built in 1903, there is plenty of outdoor seating in the garden bar. The menu is seasonal, sourced locally and freshly prepared. We can’t go past having a plate of oysters with a glass of vino, and their variety of craft beers and cider is on point. The friendly staff, fabulous venue, scrumptious food and lip-smacking drinks make The Matakana a favourite in our books.
