Forget having to drive north to Brisbane or flying south to Melbourne to see some of the world’s best comedians, because the inaugural GC Laughs Festival is making its debut at HOTA next month.
Running from 17 to 24 March, the festival is set to deliver a gutful of belly laughs with some of the world’s most-loved comedians appearing alongside Australia’s comedy legends.
Laugh yourself silly at the likes of comedic superstars Arj Barker, Ross Noble and Stephen K Amos, as well as home grown heroes Fiona O’Loughlin, Joel Creasey, Becky Lucas and Rhys Nicholson.
GC Laughs is the brainchild of Festival Co-Directors Josh Armstrong and Craig Ivanoff who realised the Coast was in need of their own comedy hub.
“Most cities around the country stage a comedy festival, it’s a rite of passage for many a famous name to ‘tread the circuit’ and audiences love discovering new talent, before they are famous,” said Josh.
“It was well and truly time for the Gold Coast to have one of its own.”
The calibre of acts locked in to perform over the seven days proves the Gold Coast is becoming a go-to hub for talented creatives. Even better, HOTA have confirmed they’ll be hosting the event for the next three years so the laughs will keep on coming.
“We are hoping that the diverse range of acts that we’ve pulled together for our first year will put us on the map as a major player on the comedy circuit and that the festival becomes a cornerstone event on the Gold Coast’s cultural calendar and grows along with the City itself,” Josh adds.
