As of this morning, Monday 2 August, the Gold Coast's lockdown is getting extended until Sunday 8 August at 4pm due to an ever-growing cluster of community-transmitted COVID cases.

Residents of South East Queensland (including Brisbane, Logan, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Noosa, Somerset, Lockyer Valley and Scenic Rim) are still only allowed to leave their homes for essential reasons—for medical reasons, to go grocery shopping, for outdoor exercise and if you are an essential worker.

Obtaining goods or exercising is still restricted to within 10 kilometres of your home and funerals and weddings are restricted to 10 people and no visitors are allowed at any homes within those 11 LGAs.

"It's starting to become clear that the initial lockdown will be insufficient for the outbreak," Mr Miles said. "So we're advising south-east Queenslanders in the 11 LGAs that the lockdown will be extended until 4:00pm on Sunday. That will make it an 8-day lockdown."

Masks are already mandatory, so if you do need to leave the house for an essential reason, make sure you’ve got a mask on.

A full list of hot spots has been released, and of course, if you have any symptoms, or have been to a hotspot, you’re urged to go and get tested.

Otherwise, we’ve got this—see you on the flipside.

Here's where to buy a mask if you're not already stocked up.
