Hellenika Is Dropping A Cookbook Full Of Greek Recipes To Celebrate 15 Years
It doesn’t get much more iconic than zucchini chips by the pool at Hellenika, and now the local Greek institution is launching its debut cookbook full of 110 recipes and the stories behind the kitchen. The book marks 15 years since Hellenika first opened on the Gold Coast, with the Brisbane location arriving on James Street in 2018, spanning breakfast, mezedes, mains, desserts and cocktails.

“People might be shocked at how simple some of the recipes are; there might only be three or four ingredients to a dish,” said author and owner Simon Gloftis. “ There’s a reason for that. It’s because if you’re cooking zucchini, you need to be able to taste the zucchini. It’s all about the produce, and for me, Greek food is simply the best cuisine in the world. Some might think it breaks a lot of classic culinary rules, but not in my mind.”
Alongside the generational recipes, the Hellenika cookbook will share stories from the Gloftis family history, old and new members of the team who shaped what Hellenika is today, and Gloftis’ best friend, business partner and co-owner Theo Kampolis. It’s perfect for home chefs and design enthusiasts alike, with rich imagery and a distinctly Hellenika pink cover destined for coffee tables.
