Indoor rock climbing is exploding in popularity on the Gold Coast and honestly, we think the hype is justified. It’s a full-body workout that’s more than just exercise—it’s an adventure that will challenge you mentally and physically. You’ll conquer new heights (quite literally), make new friends, and leave feeling pumped.
Whether you’re flying solo or with some mates, there’s something to cater to everyone’s needs. This could be the perfect way to spice up your date night, find a new healthy obsession, or simply have a blast and get some exercise. So with that in mind, here’s where to get your rock climbing and bouldering fix on the Gold Coast in 2024.
On Belay Climbing
38 Hutchinson St, Burleigh Heads QLD 4220
On Belay Climbing has set a new standard for high rope rock climbing on the Gold Coast and we couldn’t be more stoked about it. For those who prefer the slow burn of an endurance sport and the safety of a rope to catch their fall, this is the place for you.
The climbing-obsessed On Belay team have refurbished what was previously known as Paramount Adventures, modernising the gym to suit the growing boulder-loving community of the Gold Coast. They’re open seven days and allow all ages, so grab your friends, grab your family, and head to Burleigh for a climb.
Alpine Indoor Climbing Robina
86 Robina Town Centre Dr, Robina QLD 4230

Alpine Indoor Climbing was the first bouldering gym on the Gold Coast, and it set the bar high from the get-go. Despite the venue's somewhat limited space, the Alpine team have always managed to provide a plethora of climbs for the hoards of eager boulderers that descend on Robina each day.
Whether you’re working on your overhangs or projecting climbs on the MoonBoard, they’ve got something for everyone. Plus, they offer training sessions for those looking to level up their climbing. And did we mention that they have air conditioning? Perfect for those sticky Gold Coast days when no amount of chalk will help.
Alpine Indoor Climbing Currumbin
1 Stewart Rd, Currumbin Waters QLD 4223
Following in the footsteps of its sibling gym, Alpine Indoor Climbing Currumbin isn't just another climbing gym—it's a full-on bouldering paradise. They boast brand-spanking new facilities with everything you crave: a massive bouldering area, a Kilter Board, a Tension 2 Board, a huge spray wall, and a dedicated training area to help you become a stronger, more confident climber.
They've also got a comfy seating area with a killer view of the climbing action, perfect for spectating or just chilling out. And to top it all off, they serve up delicious brews to keep you fueled for your climbing session or to simply relax and enjoy the vibe. Whether you're a seasoned climber or a complete newbie, Alpine Indoor Climbing Currumbin has something for everyone.
Core Climbing Carrara

If it’s indoor bouldering on the Gold Coast that you’re after, then Core Climbing has you sorted. Whether you’re into crimping or prefer slab, their huge gym covers all bouldering bases, with routes to suit every climbing style and desire.
They do resets weekly, so you’ll never be short of fresh problems to project, and they also have a training area with a Kilter Board, because variety is the spice of life. With friendly staff, an amazing community, a children's climbing wall, and varying classes and courses for members, you really can’t go wrong at Core Climbing. We recommend filling out their waiver before you get there so that you can get your fingers on those holds even faster.
iPlay Adventure Coomera
Westfield Coomera, 103 Foxwell Rd, Coomera QLD 4209
iPlay Adventure Coomera is a super fun family entertainment centre. Perfect for letting the little ones loose, whether it’s a weekend blast or a mid-week escape. They’ve got a two-tier high ropes course to keep the adventurous thrill-seekers happy, plus a massive arcade packed with games to test their skills and reflexes.
And if that’s not enough, there’s even mini bowling and a prize redemption store to stock up on treasures. There’s also a cafe for refuelling hungry climbers (and grown-ups) and a party area for unforgettable celebrations. iPlay is a safe and fun environment where kids can burn off energy and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Core Climbing Cornubia
146 Bryants Rd, Shailer Park QLD 4128
Okay, so this one isn’t technically on the Gold Coast, but we think it’s close enough to earn a mention. Core Climbing in Logan differs from its sibling gym as the focus here is high ropes, but they still maintain that Core quality that we’ve come to know and love.
They operate as part of the Cornubia Park Sports Centre, offering normal top-roping as well as auto-belay routes, so you can still have a clamber even if you’re riding solo. And like their other gym, we recommend filling out their waiver beforehand so you can hop straight onto the wall when you arrive.
Cutloose Indoor Climbing | Coming Soon
15 City Centre Dr, Upper Coomera QLD 4209
Cutloose Indoor Climbing isn’t even open yet, but it’s already stirring up quite the storm on the Gold Coast. Boulderers will be spoilt for choice at this Upper Coomera gym, with promises of both the Kilter Board and the 2024 MoonBoard—our hands are tingling at the thought.
Cutloose is set to open over the coming months, so keep your eyes peeled and your chalk at the ready, as the first climbing gym on the Northern Gold Coast is sure to exceed your expectations. Follow their Instagram to stay up-to-date.
