The Scenic Rim Is Turning Into A Massive Live Music Playground This November

An hour inland from the Gold Coast, the Scenic Rim is once again turning into a vibrant food, wine and live music playground when The Scenic Rim Trail returns from October 31 to November 9.

Presented by Queensland Music Trails, the festival brings together our fave Aussie artists—such as headliner Vera Blue—alongside immersive workshops, family-friendly activities and top-notch local eats.

Over two jam-packed weekends, you can dance under the stars at The Long Sunset festival in Boonah, graze gourmet picnic hampers and meet alpacas at Between The Vines in Canungra, or get hands-on with cooking, crafts and First Nations storytelling at Sprout And About in Kooralbyn. Yep, it’s all happening.

We’re here to unpack each event to help you find your perfect Scenic Rim escape. With World Heritage–listed parks, boutique wineries and craft breweries as your backdrop, this trail is your golden ticket to a weekend (or two) of live music, great food and family-friendly fun.

Weekend One

The Long Sunset

After selling out last year, this three-day festival at the Boonah Showgrounds is back and bigger than ever with a killer lineup featuring Vera Blue, Boy & Bear, Gretta Ray, The Buoys and Jem Cassar-Daley.

Beyond the stage, you’ll find a whole slew of activities on offer. There’s a silent disco, line dancing (yeehaw), First Nations storytelling and community art installations scattered across the region. For early risers, you can salute the sun and join a free morning yoga sesh on Sunday.

With local food and drink vendors, plus onsite camping options for the full under-the-stars experience, this is a long weekend you don’t want to miss.

Sprout And About

If your idea of the perfect Sunday involves sunshine, good tunes and family fun, then Sprout And About at Kooralbyn Permaculture Garden is calling your name.

Expect a live soundtrack from Queensland singer-songwriter Amy John Roberts, hands-on workshops like pizza making with homegrown tomatoes, and ‘Pot-Your-Own-Plant’ sessions for little (and big) green thumbs.

You can wander through market stalls, refuel with fresh food and locally roasted coffee, and let the kids run wild in the great outdoors. Tickets start at just $10 and babies get in free—because your weekend plans shouldn’t break the bank.

Weekend Two

Between The Vines

Wine, tunes and alpacas. Yep, that’s Between The Vines at O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyard in a nutshell. At this laidback Sunday sesh, you can spend the afternoon sipping local wine, grabbing lunch from the Vineyard Kitchen and listening to the sweet voices of musicians Clea and Alisha Todd.

Feeling fancy? Snag one of O’Reilly’s gourmet picnic hampers and unwind in the scenic valley vineyard. For an extra-cute arvo, pop over to Mountview Alpaca Farm and meet the resident fluffballs. Tickets start from just $15, and kids under 11 get in free.
