Tambourine Mountain is welcoming an elevated level of luxe accommodation with the opening of a new boutique hotel this coming December. Meet the aptly named The Tamborine.
Brought to you by the team behind the Mornington Peninsula’s stunning Cassis Red Hill villas, The Tamborine will live and breathe tranquil escape—a reimagining of 1980s Hacienda-style motels meets luxe modernism in the heart of the Gold Coast Hinterland.
The 23 rooms are decked out with private balconies or terraces and plush king beds, while six of the rooms can be converted into twin beds, including two accessible rooms. The Tamborine embodies distinctive design and architectural considerations—interiors are a moody interplay of tone and light, where organic, earthy colour palettes meld with light woods.
The property has a strong ethos of promoting sustainability and reducing environmental impact—they’ve partnered with Green Earth Building for the renovation and champion environmentally conscious suppliers such as MCM House, Love Tea and Robert Gordon pottery.
Of course, no luxe accommodation would be complete without a pool and an outdoor heated mineral pool and spa take centre stage, complete with an adjoining lounge and bar where you can sip aperitifs to your heart’s content. The Tamborine’s signature aperitif hour, ‘Peacock O’Clock’ allows guests to unwind poolside while highlighting incredible local producers like Witches Falls, Loborn, and Cauldron Distillery.
The jaw-dropping mountain views from every room will certainly make it difficult to leave but if you do venture out, your stay can be thoughtfully curated to cater to your unique preferences through The Tamborine’s close partnerships with Scenic Rim businesses.
Co-owner of The Tamborine Boutique Hotel, Nina Aberdeen, expressed her excitement about this initiative:
"We’re collaborating closely with local producers, suppliers, and artisans to offer our guests a unique experience in the region through the ‘Friends of Tamborine’ initiative.
“This includes activities such as pottery classes with Andrew Moir of Potta Studio and private tastings with Loborn amaro and gin distiller Tom Drewett. It’s all about immersing our guests in the wonderful local culture that the Scenic Rim has to offer,” she said.
Whether you’re seeking a mid-week getaway, a romantic weekend escape or even the spot to put your wedding guests up for your special day, The Tamborine is looking like the perfect pick.
"We are beyond excited to open the doors to The Tamborine and share this special place with our guests. The hotel is designed to offer a seamless connection between our guests, our hosts, the natural surrounds, and the local community," said co-owner Gina McNamara.
