Never Been

2908 Logan Rd, Underwood QLD 4119

someone pouring a cappuccino

It might only be nearing its first birthday this July, but Never Been has become a firm favourite among locals already, and with a stacked menu, we can see why. Coming from the team that brought us southside icon Deedot Coffee House and Manly’s Ground Hog Social, they're doing what they do best—creating an achingly cool space that you’ll want to linger in for hours. With polished concrete floors, soaring 15-metre-high ceilings and clusters of lush greenery, the sprawling space is a chic, industrial-style greenhouse. On the menu you’ll find innovative brunch eats like tiramisu French toast, miso scrambled eggs, Texan croque madame and Spanish squid bowls. Wash it all down with a pink mimosa, yuzu and elderflower spritz or a craft beer.

Extraction Artisan Coffee

7/3375 Pacific Hwy, Slacks Creek QLD 4127

up close of 3 tacos

If you take your brunch game seriously, then a visit to Extraction Artisan Coffee is an absolute must. The Slacks Creek eatery makes everything on-site, from their heavenly brioche bread to their flavour-bomb relishes. Snag a table inside their airy warehouse on pieces of eclectic recycled furniture, and start by ordering a cup of their oh-so-smooth coffee—an ever-changing single origin sourced from around the globe. Your biggest decision of the day will be choosing between the classic “breakie bun” with Beenleigh Butchery bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, house-made BBQ sauce on a milk bun, or the slow-cooked pork belly with crispy crackling and gnocchi. Got a sweet tooth? You can’t go wrong with the apple sponge pancakes topped with brown sugar syrup and raspberry caviar. And don’t get us started on the roving specials—Serbian tacos and orange-cured salmon anyone? If you consider yourself a connoisseur, book into their Coffee Cupping and Lunch experience—a sensory training session with specialty brews, followed by a leisurely lunch on the house.

Bufwin

2922-2926 Logan Rd, Underwood QLD 4119

chicken wings

The most important thing you need to know about Bufwin is that for just $26.90 you can tuck into their chicken wing buffet, with access to unlimited chicken wings, fries, potato salad, rice, lemon iced tea and ice cream for a full 90 minutes. They have 15 wing flavours to work your way through, including black truffle, Japanese curry, buffalo, honey soy and garlic cheese. But it’s not just the wings that'll bring you back for more—their towering burgs are next level. There’s the salmon burger (trust us, it just works) and the MVP, a deep-fried soft-shell crab burger served on a black milk bun. And we have to give a special shout-out to the sides, with steaming hot dumplings, jalapeno bites, garlic toast and cheese sticks.

Bake It

3231 Logan Rd, Underwood QLD 4119

cream filled donuts

If, like us, you’re always on the hunt for the ultimate sweet treat, then Bake It and their famous Chubby Donuts need to be firmly on your radar—just look for the line of people snaking out the front door. The Korean bakery has gained a loyal fanbase for its signature clam-like clouds, filled to the brim with fresh cream spiked with early grey, Oreo, Nutella and tiramisu. In the glass self-serve cabinets, you’ll find their Chubby Crookie (a croissant topped with cookie dough and filled with cream), red bean buns, cheese and onion bread, cookies, and japchae buns stuffed with sweet potato noodles. If you’re after something bigger, their dine-in menu is equally impressive, with the Cha shu benedict (house-made milk loaf topped with sauteed greens, mushrooms, teriyaki glazed Japanese pork belly and poached eggs) sitting firmly on the must-order list.

Alien Night Market

Unit 3/51 Kingston Rd, Underwood QLD 4119

A bustling, neon-soaked, dog-friendly night market with over 40 food stalls and live music? Sign. Us. Up. The Alien Night Market hits Underwood every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5pm, with a kaleidoscope of colours, lights, music, interactive games and delicious scents. Peruse the rows of Asian street food stalls, serving up everything from Korean-style hotdogs and bowls of sizzling noods, to sushi, katsu curry and wagyu skewers. And don’t sleep on dessert, where you'll find tanghulu (rock sugar-coated fruits), Thai milk tea and stuffed doughnuts. Post feed, make tracks to the arcade, bless your ears with the live music line up or take in a kung fu film on the big screen. You can also pop next door to Area 51—the indoor entertainment centre—where adults are allowed to get in on the action every second Friday night.

Croix Croissant

85 Coronation Road, Hillcrest QLD

tray of salmon bagels

There are croissants, and then there’s Croix Croissant. Hailing from Melbourne, this artisan bakery recently opened its first Queensland eatery in Hillcrest. With a light and airy fit-out, the focus here is undoubtedly on the flaky goods—and while their pastry recipe is classic, the fillings are anything but. With an ever-changing menu, multiple visits are encouraged, but you can always expect insane flavour combos like a mie goreng croissant stuffed with mozzarella and bechamel, pistachio crolls (a croissant-roll hybrid), double cheeseburger croissants and lemon cheesecake cruffins. Decision paralysis will undoubtedly strike, so do yourself a solid and let the crew behind the counter box you up a mixed six to take away.

Manok Park

Shop 18/11-21 Kingston Rd, Underwood QLD 4119

plate of salmon

A perfect example of Logan’s multicultural heart, Manok Park is a no-frills Korean eatery that's big on flavour. After working in high-end restaurants, chef Sean Hwang decided to open a spot in Underwood, slinging authentic eats inspired by his childhood. A must-order is the venue’s famous Gangang gejeng—raw crab marinated in soy sauce—which Hwang learnt to cook from his mum. Or tuck into their Flying Fish Roe Rice served in a sizzling pan, with a crispy rice base so good that you won’t want to share. And you can’t go wrong with the Korean fried chicken with sweet chilli, the beef brisket soup, and the sizzling bibimbap. The family-run eatery doesn’t take bookings, so you’ll want to get in early to snag a table.

St Coco Cafe

3 Cupania St, Daisy Hill QLD 4127

people cheering cocktails

With a fitout made for the ‘gram, and a menu stacked with delish brunch dishes, St Coco gets our vote for one of Logan's top dining spots. Get cosy inside the Cali-style cafe, or soak up the sunshine from one of the many outdoor tables and dive into their seasonal menu, which champions local produce. Choose from epic eats like mushroom bruschetta ragu with crispy sage, brie and truffle honey, burnt butter vanilla crepes, and bratwurst benedict. For lunch, you can devour chicken waffles, cauliflower steak with truffled macadamia cheese and a bulgogi spiced cheeseburger. Wash it all down with a craft beer, specialty coffee, breakfast cocktail or cold-pressed juice. Even better, it’s doggo-friendly, so your furry friend can grab a puppy cino too.

Sugar Creek Smokehouse

124 Distillery Rd, Eagleby QLD 4207

burger

BBQ lovers will want to get familiar with this Texas-style smokehouse (with an Aussie twist), slinging melt-in-your-mouth meat from the new Distillery Road Market precinct. Housed in a repurposed shipping container, Sugar Creek Smokehouse has a paddock-to-plate ethos, serving locally sourced meats, wood-smoked daily for hours over a blend of Australian hickory and iron bark wood chips. On the menu, you’ll find juicy smoked brisket and pulled pork, served with house slaw and crispy fries. There’s also pork ribs slathered in their secret BBQ sauce, chilli brisket fries, and a droolworthy lineup of burgs, like the smoked Cubano and ‘Need a Napkin’ (smoked mac ‘n’ cheese with brisket). If you want a little bit of everything, opt for the mega meat plate, complete with smoked collar butt, brisket, fries, half a rack of ribs and slaw. Plus, there’s a roving list of tinnies and cocktails to keep your thirst and meat sweats at bay.

The Laneway Green

Chatswood Rd &, Magellan Rd, Springwood QLD 4127

brekky croissant

Bringing a taste of city dining to the burbs, The Laneway Green is the perfect spot for a smooth brew, brunch with your besties or a leisurely weekend lunch. The bright space is awash with greenery, blonde timber, soaring ceilings and good vibes, but the seasonal menu is the real star of the show. In the AM, smash chilli scramble, coconut pancake stacks and the crowd-fave veg rosti. In the PM, devour fish tacos or fill your belly with their maple BBQ pulled pork burger. There’s also a kid's menu and homemade treats for the doggos, so the whole gang can enjoy a banging meal out together.
