Hot on the heels of several new hotel openings in Byron Bay, Basq House is a private oasis in the heart of the village centre, complete with a temperature-controlled magnesium pool, a rooftop retreat, and stunning interiors.
The 32-room boutique hotel is inspired by Moroccan riads, with most rooms overlooking the centrepiece pool. Melbourne-based owners Matt Walsh and Shane Wilkinson wanted to create a stylish home-away-from-home vibe, working with StudioFAB architects and local interior designer Léo Terrando to achieve the look.
Generous rooms feature warm earthy tones and natural timber joinery for a relaxed mood. They are each equipped with HD TVs with Chromecast, Mr Smith toiletries, and a minibar stocked with Byron's best local produce.
Common spaces include a library and lounge, both adorned with original artwork, bespoke designer furniture, an enviable collection of reading materials, board games, Maybe Sammy bottled cocktails, and bar snacks.
The rooftop of the hotel has been set up for relaxation, rejuvenation, and self-guided yoga sessions. Guests also have access to a local wellness centre with infrared saunas and ice plunges, as well as Lekker push bikes, beach shades and surfboards, and dedicated share cars to use if you're keen to explore nearby spots like Brunswick Heads.
Basq House opens Friday 7 June 2024. Rooms start at $425/night. Book your stay at Basq House here.
