Burleigh Heads’ dining scene has got a whole lot hotter, just in time for summer.
The team behind cult-favourite Costa Taco have opened one of their biggest venues yet today (31 October), bringing their authentic Mexican flavour to the heart of Burleigh Heads.
Following the closure of Cost Taco’s beloved Palm Beach venue, to make way for future development, the Burleigh Heads venue on the Gold Coast Highway marks a new chapter in the Costa Taco journey.
Brought to us by brothers Matt and Nick Stanley, Costa Taco has rapidly grown from a humble market stall at the Currumbin Community Markets in 2020 to a stalwart of the Gold Coast and Byron Bay dining scenes, with three ever-pumping taquerias in Palm Beach, Broadbeach, Byron Bay and Mercado, a Cali-inspired cafe in Mermaid Waters.
The inception of Costa Taco was born from a clear vision—to serve up true Mexican cuisine without ‘translating’ it for the Australian palate and to create spaces where locals and visitors come together to celebrate, connect, and belong. We dig it.
“Costa Taco has always been about more than food. For us, it’s about sharing Mexican culture with honesty and heart, and creating a space where everyone feels welcome," explains Nick Stanley, Co-Founder of Costa Taco.
"We’re proud that so many of our team are Mexican and Latino - they bring their heritage to life here. That’s the spirit we want people to feel when they walk through the doors at all of our restaurants.”
And true Mexican food you will find at Costa Taco Burleigh, starring street-style tacos (aka quesabirria) with Costa’s famous consomé dipping sauce, zesty ceviche tostadas, chilaquiles, street corn, and of course, damn good margis made with Costa Agave, the brothers’ own agave spirit crafted in Oaxaca in partnership with local producers.
Honestly, we couldn’t be more excited for Costa Taco Burleigh to remind us what good times with mates (and great tacos) taste like.
Costa Taco Burleigh has officially opened 31 October.
