E.L.E Bar Burleigh

Born from a desire to create a safe, judgement-free bar—with banging drinks and bites—E.L.E is the newest Burleigh bar on the bustling block. The team behind Burleigh institution, Oi Izakaya are the maestros behind E.L.E, affectionately shortened from ‘Everybody Love Everybody’. So, yes this means the cocktails and food are top-tier. 

The first thing you notice about E.L.E is, well, the fit-out. It’s very damn slick. Pink and blue electric lighting illuminates the sleek, stripped back venue, while a striking bar commands the space. 

Booths and high tables fill the venue and a dazzling disco ball sparkles from above, a nod to the many late nights of dancing to be had at E.L.E. Eye-catching prints by Troy Freyee line the walls of the intimate space, which has capacity for 65-70 patrons. 

As expected when the Oi Izakaya crew is involved, the drinks lineup is sophisticated yet approachable. A signature must-order cocktail is the ‘Love You’, which muddles Geraldton Waxflower vodka, Domaine De Canton, ginger syrup and coconut water. You can chow down on Japanese eats from sister venue, Oi Izakaya—the gyoza and yakitori pair perfectly with a sipple.

Perhaps what we love most about E.L.E is the ethos behind it—the aim to be a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community and, ultimately, everyone. It’s certainly not a traditional gay bar; it’s simply a celebration of what makes us unique; a venue that celebrates individuality and prides itself on being a welcoming space for all.
