Southport is about to dial up the heat with the arrival of Kaktus Bar, a vibrant new Mexican-inspired venue serving next-level margaritas, Mexican street eats and a buzzing atmosphere, set to open in December.

Kaktus Bar is the latest addition to Southport Sharks and when their motto is ‘bring the fiesta’, you know it’s going to be good. Inspired by the warmth of Mexican hospitality and the vibes of a tequila-fuelled get-together, Kaktus it’s designed for everything from group catchups to date nights—finally giving northern locals a destination-worthy night out without heading south.

On the drinks menu? Okay, we’ll share. Build-your-own margaritas (yes, we’re also curious), mezcal and tequila flights for the adventurous and a handcrafted list of cocktails that celebrates all things agave. 

Food-wise, expect share-style street eats, because let’s be honest, Mexican tastes best when it’s shared. Highlights include quesabirria dippers, charred corn, loaded tacos and a housemade Kaktus Guac that’s rumoured to set a very high bar for every guac you’ll eat after this.

The space itself is designed with groups in mind, offering booth-style seating and semi-private nooks ideal for intimate celebrations or long-overdue catchups. 

And because no fiesta is complete without a soundtrack, you can expect live DJs every Friday and Saturday night—plus rotating food and drink specials to keep the vibe pumping long after the sun goes down.
