'Kefi', derived from the Greek word that embodies the sense of joy, is exactly how we would describe Coolangatta’s bright newcomer. The Mediterranean-inspired cafe is founded on the principle of serving soul-nourishing food made with love, and once you dig into a plate of their Turkish eggs, you’ll understand the ‘made with love’ ethos.

The succinct menu covers all your needs—all-day breakfast, lunch from 11am, kids bites and alcoholic beverages from 10am. Cheeky. We love that Kefi Cafe serves sustainably-sourced Five Senses Coffee, or if coffee isn’t your thing you’re sorted with smoothies, fresh juices and a plethora of teas.

Breakfast stars include the Kefi hotcakes with lemon whipped ricotta, fresh berries, maple and pistachio blanc anglaise; Muhammara avo with sliced avocado, whipped ricotta, dukkah, house pesto, muhammara and kale; and Turkish eggs with cumin yoghurt, chilli butter, sumac onions, crispy chickpeas and flatbread.

Meander onto the lunch menu and you’ll be spoiled for choice with vibrant dishes like spaghetti ai gamberi, chicken Milanese and gyros plates loaded with confit lamb shoulder, dips and flatbread. There’s also plenty of share dishes, but we won’t judge if you keep them all to yourself.

Beyond the menu, what makes Kefi Cafe shine is the colourful fitout, inspired by the Mediterranean coast, the friendly staff and the welcoming atmosphere. It’s a space to unwind, connect with others and take it slow. Oh, and it's dog-friendly too, so no one needs to miss out.

Kefi Cafe is the brainchild of Marina Ghobrial, who brings over ten years of hospitality expertise to this vibrant venture, including managing the well-known Pawpaw Cafe in Brisbane.

“It’s time to turn my dream of opening a cafe into reality. I believe in spreading sunshine through soul-nourishing food and fostering a close-knit community,” says Marina.
