The revamped Kirra Beach Hotel within the Kirra Point Precinct will open late November 2023, as part of a revival of the cherished coastal locale which has proudly stood as a Kirra icon since 1956. The essence of the pub remains the same—a casual, quintessentially Aussie watering hole which keeps locals at its heart.
Greg Hodge, affectionately known as 'Hodgy,' who ran the Kirra Beach Hotel for eight years before its 2021 demolition, is thrilled to return to what he loves most, with many familiar faces among the staff also returning. Perhaps our favourite part? Hodgy says there will be a tub of thongs behind the bar, for patrons who don’t have shoes coming in from the surf.
While the relaxed atmosphere of Kirra Beach Hotel remains the same, it’s certainly received a stunning new facelift. Spanning an impressive 1300 sqm, the coastal pub encompasses an expansive sun-drenched beer garden with panoramic surf views, lively family-friendly bistro, public bar, dedicated kids' area, sports bar, and a boutique bottle shop. There’s even an 130-space underground car park, so patrons can easily pop in and out, which any Gold Coaster will know is a serious game-changer.
With lofty five-metre ceilings and impressive open windows, the laidback venue exudes a breezy coastal-casual vibe, boasting unobstructed vistas of Kirra's iconic surf break. Surfing legends like Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson grace the walls with iconic memorabilia, paying tribute to Kirra's surf culture.
The coastal-inspired menu celebrates local produce and keeps it casual with an array of pub classics, lighter bites, and share-style plates. The emphasis on local brewers and distillers ensures a diverse selection of frosty beers and Australian spirits, with Balter, Burleigh Brewing, and Brookie's Gin among the featured names.
The Kirra Beach Hotel opens Monday 27 November at 10am.
