If you have a penchant for top-notch Japanese food—and seriously, who doesn’t— then you must add Kiyomi to your Gold Coast dining bucket list. A refined masterpiece within The Star Gold Coast’s culinary crown, this is fine dining that oozes elegance.

The Star’s signature Japanese dining experience, Kiyomi, is showcasing its collusion of ritual and art through a sleek new elevated look and feel with refreshed interiors, new menu offerings and a brand-new private dining room.

Tucked away on the mezzanine level, the 112-seat main dining space is moodily lit and showcases dark wood features, natural stone and traditional Japanese calligraphy artworks across the walls.

Take a peek inside the new 16-seat private dining room and you’ll agree that Kiyomi has nailed their ethos of ‘ambience anchored by ritual and art’. Dramatic textures and bold graphic artwork, inspired by traditional Japanese art, sprawls across the main feature wall; dim lighting elevates the senses; and traditional Japanese spirits are showcased in impressive wall displays.

The new-look Kiyomi is led by Chef Winson Law, who has been at the helm of Kiyomi as Head Chef for seven years and is thrilled to be steering this next culinary chapter. Law bridges Japanese culinary tradition and modern innovation; with a sophisticated menu incorporating premium, local produce and traditional techniques.

“Exceptional ingredients and a new level of finesse form the culinary philosophy at Kiyomi. We really try to create memorable dining experiences that celebrate the best of both Japanese and Australian cuisine,” Law said.

With an adventurous menu that includes aged pork tomahawk with apple wasabi, Mooloolaba prawn toast with spanner crab and melt-in-your-mouth sashimi platters, all dishes are prepared to look like an edible work of art. The tuna crispy rice with crispy hokkaido yumepirica rice is Kiyomi’s most-loved dish that we can’t go past.

Don’t know where to start? We recommend passing the reins over to the experts and splashing out on the ten-course omakase set menu—it’s the stuff culinary dreams are made of.

The new private dining space is for lunch, offering a selection of set menus and a sushi and sashimi grazing table. For dinner, you can choose from the ten-course omakase menu or the premium omakase menu, featuring a chef demonstration.
