The Verdict

They say good things come in small packages, which rings true for the 50-plus items on the menu at The Star’s hawker-style eatery, Mei Wei Dumplings.

Let’s be honest, nothing beats ordering every single kind of dumpling or steamed bun on the menu (they’re small so you’re allowed to), filling your very own dipping saucer with all the soya, vinegar and chilli oil you can handle, and stuffing your face. This is welcomed and encouraged at Mei Wei Dumplings!

On arrival, first whet your appetite when pressing your nose against the glass window out front, where dumplings and pot stickers are prepared before your eyes. Next, sidle up to the counter and take your pick from Xia Jiao (prawn) and Shao Mai (prawn and pork) dumplings, pot stickers, noodle soups, honey glazed barbecue pork, Cantonese roasted duck and oh so much more—best shared between friends.      

A casual dining encounter, make Mei Wei Dumplings your destination for the night or, rest assured you can order another espresso martini at the Garden Kitchen & Bar next door, knowing this late-night dining option, opening at 11am and serving until sometime around midnight, is there to soak up the evidence.
