Broadbeach has welcomed a new Japanese dining spot, with Nigiwai now open inside The Oasis. Named after the Japanese idea of vibrancy and people gathering together, owner Chai Aramworapaisan’s restaurant pairs traditional techniques with contemporary presentation across a sprawling menu of sushi, sashimi, wagyu, hot pots and claypot rice.
Seafood is a major focus, led by the Nigiwai Premium Sashimi Set with salmon, tuna, kingfish, Hokkaido scallops, salmon roe and sea urchin. Sushi ranges from classic nigiri and maki to playful creations like the Salmon Lava Cheese Roll and truffle sushi shots topped with salmon, unagi or scallop. Elsewhere, wagyu appears as sushi, tartare and steak, while share-style nabe hot pots come loaded with either wagyu and vegetables or prawns, mussels, squid and kingfish.
For something comforting, there’s ramen, donburi and kama meshi—traditional Japanese rice served in a hot clay pot—alongside grilled unagi, Hokkaido scallops, chawanmushi and gyoza. The menu even ventures into pasta, with Tom Yum Kung Pasta pairing prawns with lemongrass, kaffir lime and chilli, and Hotate Ebiko Sauce Pasta combining Hokkaido scallops and salmon roe in a creamy shrimp roe sauce.
