Raes On Wategos

Breathtaking Northern Rivers hotel Raes on Wategos will expand its footprint to a second property in late 2024, taking over the former Victoria’s at Wategos site less than 100 metres away from the beachfront icon.

The new site will expand the hotel’s accommodation capacity with ten new suites, all echoing the distinct coastal aesthetic devised by interior designer Tamsin Johnson for Raes’ makeover in 2016. The revamp will see Tamsin fuse Mediterranean influences with one-of-a-kind pieces to complement the original architecture.

“As we celebrate 30 years of Raes, we’re thrilled to offer guests a wider opportunity to experience the elegance, warmth and unparalleled hospitality Raes on Wategos is renowned for,” says Raes managing director Jordy Catalano.

Common areas at the second site include tropical gardens, two swimming pools (a lap pool with a waterfall, and a 12-metre solar-heated pool with a cabana and lounge area), and indoor lounges with open log fireplaces.

Guests of the second site will also be able to enjoy the facilities at the original location, including the awarded Raes Dining Room, the Cellar Bar and Raes spa. Luxe touches like chauffeur drop-offs in and out of town, complimentary arrival and departure transfers, and in-room add-ons by partners like Perrier-Jouët will also be carried over.
