Sefa Kitchen, a much-loved Middle Eastern Bondi institution has just made its Byron Bay debut.

With a winning team behind it—Utku Ayhan from Foxy Luu’s and Sefa Kitchen in Bondi, alongside Nicolas Degryse of Sydney’s Gratia & Folonomo—Sefa Kitchen is the third venture at Nourishing Habitat and is set to be the latest hotspot in Byron’s vibrant dining scene.

Known for its rustic yet refined take on Middle Eastern cuisine, Sefa Kitchen celebrates the rich, diverse flavours of the Levantine and North African regions. At the heart of Sefa Kitchen Byron Bay is its wood-fire oven and open-flame grill, where the magic truly happens and dishes are kissed with smoky, charred goodness.

Expect to get your hands messy (literally)—owners Utku and Nico encourage diners to dig in with bread and fingers, embracing the communal spirit of the Levantine and North African-inspired cuisine.

The share-style menu is filled with mouthwatering platters that encourage communal feasting. Think Manaqueesh bread with saltbush za’atar and spiced butter, organic mussels with whipped tarama and heirloom radishes, halloumi with local smoked bush honey and pistachio, and the pièce de résistance—a slow-roasted Baharat lamb shoulder that’s sure to steal the show.

End on a sweet note with a saffron panna cotta that’s almost too pretty to eat. And if you really can’t decide? The ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ five-course sharing menu for $55 per person showcases the chef’s favourite dishes.
