Six-Tricks Distilling Co.

Nestled in an unassuming cul-de-sac overlooking the Broadbeach skyline, Six-Tricks Distilling Co. is Mermaid Beach's innovative new artisan rum and whiskey distillery, tasting room, and cocktail bar.

With a whopping $2 million invested in its state-of-the-art facilities, including a second warehouse dedicated to ageing rum and whiskey barrels, Six-Tricks aims to immerse patrons in an educational and hands-on distillery experience. 

The venue itself? It’s seriously luxe with a spacious indoor bar, a sprawling deck perfect for sunset views and a private cask hall, with total capacity up to 100 guests. Tones of emerald green, bronze, exposed brick and dark wood touches shine throughout, adding to the elegant atmosphere.

Founded by locals Chris Macklin and Teagan Peake, the talented duo emphasise their commitment to local craftsmanship, with all spirits made on-site, sodas, syrups and tinctures made from scratch and even the drink garnishes are grown in the distillery’s garden.

Head bartender Jimmy boasts an impressive portfolio, having headed up the bar in a plethora of well-known Gold Coast drink-centric venues for the last 14 years. We could go into his lengthy resume, but his exquisite drinks speak for themselves. 

The drinks are quite simply exceptional—they’ve absolutely nailed the classics but have elevated them with unique blends of flavours and styles that are unexpected, yet delightful. Rum and whiskey cocktails star behind the bar, yet Six-Tricks will soon produce all six core spirit types on-site.

With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry and after eight years honing the craft in his private distillery, Chris discovered that his flair for distilling was by design all along. Chris, tracing his lineage to a 1900’s wine industry pioneer, sees Six-Tricks as a catalyst for elevating Australia's spirits market globally, joining a wave of passionate artisans reshaping the local scene.
