The Gold Coast is certainly a melting pot of flavours and cuisines, but every now and then, a new restaurant comes along which brings something truly unique to the table. Meet Tayta.

Tayta Bar & Restaurant brings Nikkei cuisine to the Gold Coast for the first time—an intriguing combination of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine which originated in the late 1800s and stars traditional Peruvian dishes elevated with Japanese techniques.

Owner Adriano’s love for Nikkei cuisine was first born during a stint working in a London Nikkei restaurant, and his passion has grown over the years. He spied a gap in the Gold Coast restaurant scene, and thus, Tayta came to fruition.

Situated on the bustling Nobby Beach restaurant strip, Tayta speaks to its Peruvian roots with plenty of tumbling greenery, velvet seating, an expansive bar commanding the space and eye-catching murals. It’s dimly lit, slick and goddamn sexy.

The extensive food menu presents bold combinations we’ve never seen—or tasted—before. You’ll find dishes you know and love like kingfish ceviche and yakitori alongside reinvented plates like slow cooked octopus with purple olive sauce, shiitake mushroom anticucho and slow-cooked pork ribs with Peruvian spice glaze.

Adriano’s history as a sommelier is evident in the succinct selection of curated wines, as well as sake, unapologetically bold cocktails and the signature drink—pisco sours. You’ll struggle to choose between the classic pisco sour, hibiscus sour and kiwi sour, but they’re all top-notch.
