The Verdict

The second you step inside Voco you’ll feel a sense of calm—which is ironic given its amazing location right in the hustle and bustle of Surfers Paradise. That’s probably down to its recent makeover which has breathed new life into the building—crisp white furnishings and touches of nautical navy and pops of fresh yellow. It’s coastal chic and we’re digging it.

The little touches here make the biggest difference, and it’s something you don’t expect from the bigger hotel chains. But that’s not the case at Voco. Think freshly baked lavender and lemon shortbread served on your arrival.

While the location is perfect for exploring everything from our gorgeous beaches to local bars, you have to make sure you carve out some time to dine at Voco’s restaurant Cliffords. Low lit and moody, the bar is the perfect place for a pre-dinner cocktail, while the knowledgeable staff will talk you through their favourites and we recommend you take it on board.

Think seared yellowfin tuna with fennel and toasted nuts and scallops with prawn sambal and sticky pork belly. But the stand out has to be their signature Bombe Alaska with croquant macadamia, salted caramel, vanilla bean ice-cream and buttered popcorn. The best part is you only have to roll back to your room before sinking into their seriously plush beds.

If you’re looking for a great little staycation on the Coast, we’ve found it.
