What’s On In Hobart This Week, Month And Beyond
Autumn days are shorter and we're all gearing up for Tassie's winter (hello, Dark Mofo), but Hobart doesn't slow down when the cold starts creeping in. The city's alive with music, art, festivities - and, always, good food.
Here's our pick for the best things to do in Hobart this week, month and beyond.
What's On In Hobart May 2026
Mona's new wing and library opening soon
Mona | Mid June

A library, but not as you know it, book-lovers. Mona's new wing is set to open in week 2 of Dark Mofo festival in June, tunneled beneath Anselm Kiefer's 'Elektra' amphitheatre which opened in December. The long-awaited library, the 'Phrontisterion', will house Mona founder David Walsh's private collection of rare books, maps and other curiosities, promising unusual encounters with the written word (after all, it's Mona!). Plus, this new subterranean wing (linked by tunnels) has several permanent installations. More to see and do at Mona than ever before.

Salamanca | April 28 - May 10

For its ninth season, the Spiegeltent Hobart has returned with more dizzying dramatic delight than ever! La Ronde has already earned wild acclaim, a lavish blend of circus, comedy and music. But what else would you expect from the creators of Blanc de Blanc? It's bold. It's fabulous. It's not here long, so hurry up!
Bougie s'more's are back at Agrarian
New Norfolk | May 1 - August 2

Get out to the country while the leaves are turning and the days turn cool and stop in at New Norfolk and snuggle in for a seasonal treat. From Friday to Sunday at Agrarian Kitchen's Kiosk, you can toast your own s'mores over the outdoor fire pit. $16 gets you a two-pack of DIY s'mores in your hot little hands. But because it's Agrarian Kitchen, these aren't just any s'mores: gourmet house-made spiced biscuits, honey-infused marshmallow and artisan Federation chocolate from Richmond. All their ingredients come from the same source as their degustation, making these the fanciest of nostalgic treats. Toasted over flame, caramelised, gooey and messy in the best way. Perfect interlude between the river walk and antiquing.
