The Verdict
Japanese breakfast has arrived to Melbourne, and it’s making us question why it’s taken so long.
Chotto (meaning 'a short time' in Japanese), is the latest venture by Brendan and Caryn Liew. Brendan is best known for having worked in Supernormal, Golden Fields and Kappo, so he knows a thing or two about running a delicious kitchen.
The menu is small and will change seasonally, and focuses on bringing the highest quality ingredients to your table. You can opt for a ryokan-style breakfast set or nana kusa gayu (seven herbs porridge), and they’ve got sweet options too! A super fluffy Japanese hotcake and a mandarin millefeuille will be served up too, giving you sweeter options for starting the day.
But would a traditional Japanese breakfast really be complete without matcha lattes that are whisked to order? They’ll also be serving up Monk Bodhi Dharma coffee—black, white and gold filter—Chai Walli chai and Daintree hot chocolate... Delicious!
