The Verdict

There was high excitement when we discovered that one of our favourite north-side joints–Glamorama Bar, now also does dining. Enter: Spare Me Kitchen.

Sitting pretty on Brunswick Street, Spare Me has fast become the place to hit for group catch-ups. It’s spacious, funky, and most importantly, dishes up next level finger lickin’ food.

Perfect for group dining, Spare Me Kitchen has comfortable booths and super affordable menu options for group of 10 or more. A $45pp option will get you nine sharing plates (five Entrees, three sides and a choice of main) And $55pp will get you 11 Sharing plates (five entrees, three sides, two desserts and  choice of main).

Alternatively there's a $15pp option that'll get you a series of snack dishes - the chef will tailor this to suit the size of your group and it's perfect for after-work drinks or catch ups. If you're looking for a full-blown celebration, the space is available for hire - the canapé menu and beverage packages start at $25pp and are the fast track to a rolicking good party.

It’s tricky to narrow down stand-out dishes from the menu, you really can’t go wrong, but we can recommend our favourites. The duck liver parfait is as smooth as they come and is served with jamon, saltbush, and pickles and is absolutely one of our go-tos. For something more substantial, the Gippsland beef fillet is exactly what the doctor ordered. It’s made extra fresh with the accompaniment of shaved fennel and parsley.

For the sweet tooths amongst you, we have good news: both of the desserts are next-level. The sweeter option of chocolate marquise with peanut praline and salted caramel offers the perfect hit of sugar, while the whipped goat’s curd, mascarpone and shaved grana comes with vanilla almond soil and lemon gel, and isn’t quite as sweet. Good luck choosing between those two.

Spare Me Kitchen has found a home in the same space as Glamorama Bar, meaning it really is the perfect place to settle in for the whole evening–drinks from Glamorama’s epic selection (if you’re a whisky fiend, you’ll be right at home), dinner from Spare Me Kitchen’s menu and then hang around for some seriously quality tunes. The space is fitted out with a sound system that’d rival the best.  See what we mean? It’s basically a venue that’s made for a lock-in Saturday.

Whether you’re simply after really great quality food and a catch up with a few friends, or you’re looking for somewhere that’ll gladly welcome your whole wolf pack, Spare Me Kitchen is all about bringing you together.
