The Verdict
St Kilda newcomer United Kitchen Dining & Tapas is stunning fusion venue that's serving up incredible house-infused cocktails, delicious bar snacks and some cracking seafood and meat dishes to boot. The new bar-restaurant puts a focus on relaxed drinking and dining, fresh, authentic flavours and twists on classic cocktails, making it a welcome addition to Fitzroy Street's buzzing strip.
If you're looking for a light bite, the Thai seasoned edamame are so moorish we had to order two bowlfuls, whilst the dry-spiced crispy prawns are the perfect accompaniment to a couple of cool drinks on a warm evening. Of the larger dishes, you can expect melt-in-your-mouth beef cheek, tender octopus with chorizo, and crispy duck leg.
But it's the desserts that you need to be saving room for - light and fluffy salted caramel doughnuts, freshly made peanut spring rolls, and decadent chocolate fondant, all of which slip down far too easily with a watermelon margarita or walnut espresso martini!
The night wouldn't be complete without exploring the cocktail menu in full and, with an open kitchen and bar, you can get right up close to the action. United Kitchen's signature bevs are on the margarita list, so be sure to try at least one before you leave. United Kitchen is a wonderful dining experience with a relaxed vibe, so grab a few of your best mates and head to Fitzroy Street, stat.
