This New Auckland Food Festival Will Turn The City Into One Big Restaurant In November

It has been a big year for New Zealand's food scene. Michelin arrived on our shores in June and took the country's cuisine to the world. We've had exciting new openings, incredible awards and, crucially, a real sense of hope returning to the industry after a few years of tough times and bad news. 

Well, the good stuff shows no signs of slowing down as, today, news of a new Auckland food festival has just dropped. Auckland Feast powered by Mastercard will run from 12-22 November this year, turning the city into one big restaurant. 

The inaugural edition of this spring food fest will bring together hospitality operators from across Tāmaki Makaurau, giving locals and visitors the chance to discover new venues, revisit local favourites and experience the city's diverse neighbourhoods, from Ponsonby to Parnell, Karangahape Road, to Britomart, and across the bridge to the North Shore. We have it on good authority that we might get a few people coming to cook from a little further afield, too. 

Sid Sahrawat gave us a sneak peek on one event you can expect, saying "We have such a strong food scene in Auckland and I think sometimes we forget just how good it is. There are incredible chefs, producers and restaurants right across the city, and Feast gives us an opportunity to celebrate that and encourage people to get out and experience more of it. We’re looking forward to opening up the courtyard at The French Cafe during Feast and showcasing some of the great local producers we work with."

From special menus to venue collaborations, one-off dinners, and big, food-fuelled parties, Auckland Feast powered by Mastercard will celebrate everything delicious and edible in this wonderful city. The full programme will be release later this month, with tickets going on sale on 1 October. Mastercard holders will have access to pre-sale tickets from 28 September.
