Onehunga has a brand-new community hangout, and it’s bringing all the good vibes. The Springs Tavern is Auckland’s newest neighbourhood pub; a laid-back, family-friendly (and yes, dog-friendly) spot made for after-work drinks, weekend catch-ups and everything in between.

Just a short stroll from Go Media Stadium and Te Papapa train station, The Springs Tavern is designed to be as easy as it is inviting. Inside, you’ll find lofty timber-and-brick warmth, live-sport screens, and a striking hand-painted mural by New Zealand artist Hayley Brown.

But the heart of the venue? The sun-drenched courtyard. Layered with greenery, complete with a sandpit for the kids, and totally dog-friendly, it’s a year-round social hub where everyone—two-legged and four-legged—is welcome.

On the menu, expect modern pub fare with crowd-pleasing twists: think stone-baked pizzas, beer-battered fish and chips, pappardelle pasta and lamb shoulder tacos, plus a kids’ menu designed for smaller appetites. Cold beers, cocktails and a sharp wine list keep the drinks flowing, while weeknight specials and weekend DJs dial up the atmosphere.

Game days are a big deal here too; whether you’re catching the Wahs on the big screens or using The Springs as your pre- and post-stadium base, this is the place to be.
