Brimming with vineyards and distilleries, terrific food, forest tracks and more beaches and swimming spots than you can shake a sandy towel at (and come summer we absolutely will be), the only thing better than a day trip to Waiheke Island is an overnighter. And that's all the more enticing knowing Waiheke's Airbnb game is very, very strong. From jaw-droppingly stunning to stunningly affordable, whatever your budget, you're well-catered to.
Here are 8 of the best Airbnbs on Waiheke Island.
Fleetwood Waiheke
Sleeps 2-8 | $$

If you’re looking for an immaculately designed, secluded boutique setting on Waiheke Island, you just found it. Fleetwood Waiheke is just under 30 minutes from Matiatia Wharf and is set on an 18-acre stretch of bush with views through to Te Matuku Bay. It was co-founded and styled by the inimitable Jackie Houghton. (If you’re lucky, she’ll pick you up in her gorgeous rover Mary-Jane.)
Easily one of the best Airbnbs on Waiheke, Fleetwood’s perfect for a sublime island stay just because, but also makes for a stunning backdrop for photoshoots, weddings and private parties. Choose from one of two Fleetwood Studios, Fleetwood House or Canyon House then prepare to kick back in luxe bliss.
Luxurious Clifftop Tihi Lodge

Sleeping ten guests across the main house and a separate, more private penthouse with mind-blowing views from just about everywhere, Luxurious Clifftop Tihi Lodge could be perfect for a get-together with extended family. Some of the more luxurious features include a gorgeous freestanding bath, rainforest shower, sauna, indoor fireplace and all the spots to curl up in.
Belle Escape
Sleeps 2 | $$$

Look, this one definitely falls into the realm of Splurge-City but, hell, sometimes that’s exactly what the heart desires. Perched on a ridgeline overlooking Piemelon Bay, Belle Escape looks like it belongs in Bali but happily it doesn't require an expensive flight to get there. Book in here for top-tier architectural design, a minimalist aesethic and tranquility while being very near to Onetangi Beach. Expect jaw-dropping ocean views enjoyed from a sprawling deck, cosy in bed, from your private pool, from the kitchen bench, from the shower—from everywhere. It costs a pretty penny but sometimes it’s worth shelling out, and this is definitely one of those moments.
Onetangi Chalet
Sleeps 2 | $

One of the best Airbnbs on Waiheke for a whimsical weekend away that won’t break the bank, Onetangi Chalet is a loft peppered with darling fairy lights in an ancient broad-leaf forest. Awaken to native birdsong then amble down to Onetangi Beach for a day in the sun.
This adorable chalet includes a microwave convection oven, Nespresso machine, electric hob and crockery, all bathroom amenities plus Netflix for if the weather turns or you just get a sudden urge to Netflix and chill (yes, we're referring to that).
Tradewinds Waiheke
Waiheke, Auckland | Sleeps 11 | $$$

Heading for the island with your whole crew in tow? Tradewinds Waiheke is one of the best Airbnbs on Waiheke for groups, plus, all your worries will melt away once you slip into the pool. Sitting pretty atop Park Point Peninsula, be sure to pack plenty of 'HOLY F*** that sunset's unreal.'
Aside from insane vistas and a pool that looks like it's straight out of a movie, you're signing up for a four bedroom house and a one bedroom apartment. Between the two there's everything you could want, from a stone bathtub and outdoor fireplace with a pizza oven to two indoor fireplaces, games and a spa pool. Even basalt stone floors and a kauri dining table.
Tent House
Sleeps 2 | $$

We were obsessed with this Tent House with its satisfying geometrics and artistic minimalist interiors the second we saw it. And that’s even before we knew there was a hot tub. We’re not the only one’s dazzled either—the Waiheke Airbnb has been noted internationally, in Elle Decor Italy magazine and if it’s good enough for the Italian sensibilities, there’s really no reason to not book in, stat.
Sun loungers, an outdoor fire pit and a full kitchen await you. This spot’s set in the bush so you might find the odd spider friend but we reckon that’s all part of the charm.
Bush Studio
Sleeps 2 | $

Simplicity and a forest-toned palette can be a tonic to the frenetic energy of daily living and this stripped-back Bush Studio provides exactly that. Here you’ll exist among gloriously tall native trees and awaken to birdsong. A 15-minute walk from Palm Beach it’s a great base for island adventuring, knowing you can return to utter serenity whenever you like.
Jacksons Hideaway
Sleeps 2 | $

We don't know who Jackson is but there's no denying the man has taste. The cosy cabin (complete with a red door) is one of the best Airbnbs on Waiheke for an escape away from the daily grind. The cute space includes all the essentials including a kitchenette, lounge-dining space, full bathroom and on-site parking but our favourite spot is the ample deck—best enjoyed with a good book, a glass of vino, some mellow beats and a cheeseboard to graze on.
Feel like a beach day? Enclosure Bay and Sandy Bay are a short walk away plus the property’s well connected to the main drag via public bus. Bonus.
