Green does not mean boring, folks. And, proving they know what’s what when it comes to all things good, EcoFest West is returning to West Auckland this Saturday for a month-long party of all things seriously eco! From Avondale to the Waitakeres, there’s a line-up of more than 140 events that show all the love for the environment. If you're a Shore bod, fear not because EcoFest North will run at the same time, so check out all their events here.
Back out West, the wealth of activities you can get amongst have been seperated into categories - Waka Hourua/Clean Transport, Kīnaki Kai Reka/Foodies’ Fix, Te Whaihanga/Makers’ Mayhem, Torohē Nuku/Explore Nature and Mauri Noho/Conscious Living. Covering a wide range of topics and subject matters, most events are free or low-cost and whānau friendly. Kicking things off on March 20 you can take part in everything from a silent disco city clean up, geek out taking pics of wildlife accompanied by a naturalist, help clean up a river, pick up something new at Te Puna Market or even get on your bike for an extended guided bike ride with a sustainable/vegan-friendly lunch thrown in.
And, throughout the month, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to improve your life skills, learning how to make everything from candles, seamstress tips and tricks and sourdough to creative cooking with leftovers at the daily workshops. Also, check out the free night bush walks to truly become one with nature.
You’ll be left green with envy if you miss out on this totally awesome festival that only does good so fill up your diary with their dizzying array of events and consider the next month sorted.
