Killing Eve Is Getting An Epic Spin-Off Series And We’re Not Worthy

By Morgan Reardon

The two lead characters of Killing Eve embrace.

First off, let's start with some sad news—producers of Killing Eve have just announced that after four seasons, the series will officially wrap. But, wipe those tears away guys because the great news is that a spin-off series is already in development.

The critically acclaimed assassin drama was originally renewed for a fourth season way back in January 2020 but after COVID put a stop to production, creators of the show have decided to end the series on a high with a final eight eps expected to drop sometime in 2022.

Production is set to take place across Europe from July, with Laura Neal (Sex Education, Turn Up Charlie) stepping into the role of head writer—keeping with the show’s tradition of hiring a new head writer for each season. How could we forget the stunning first season with Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge in the writing seat?

And while the end of the show, which has scored a whopping 19 Emmy nominations in just three short seasons, is a big kick in the guts for the legion of fans, this doesn’t exactly spell the end for our favourite sartorial psycho Villanelle and her sometimes crime-fighting nemesis/lover Eve.

According to Variety, AMC Networks and Sid Gentle Films Ltd who produce Killing Eve are in the midst of developing potential spin-offs (yes, that’s plural) to continue Villanelle’s legacy.

While Killing Eve is based on the Villanelle novels by Luke Jennings, there are no spinoff books so the options for twisted plots, characters and new wild games of cat and mouse are endless.
