Kisa | The Outstanding New Wellington Opening You Need To Know About

By

If you were one of the lucky ones who scored a spot at the mega-popular Kisa pop-up in 2021, you’ll be chuffed to know that the restaurant has now found a permanent home right in the heart of Cuba Street.

Brought to you by Dean White, owner of Wellington faves Mr Go’s and Ombra, Kisa celebrates White’s love of Turkish food and the flair of the Turkish dining experience.

Deliciously blending the flavours of Turkey and the Middle East, Kisa’s menu offers an array of tantalising mezze plates alongside larger dishes. Locally sourced ingredients and exotic tastes come together to create mouthwatering dishes that are perfect for sharing. Pile up your house-made pita with smoked eggplant moutabel, sink your teeth into succulent shawarma spiced lamb shoulder, and don’t leave without trying the fried Brussel sprouts—these crispy morsels will make your tastebuds sing. Trust us on this one.

Kisa’s drinks menu stays a bit closer to home, showcasing local wine, beer and spirits which complement the international cuisine. The cocktail list offers classic concoctions with a Turkish twist—sip on the delightfully refreshing Apple & Hibiscus Fizz featuring Turkish Apple infused vodka, or try the Sumac Mule, a Kisa take on the Moscow Mule, with aromatic sumac spice and pomegranate.

The space on the corner of Cuba and Vivian streets has been given a flash new fit-out, with cosy booths and tables flooded with light—a far cry from the dark, grungy bars that previously occupied the site. The kitchen is the centrepiece of the restaurant, offering a window into the action. Take a front-row seat and see your meal cooked on the unique charcoal grill, and then savour the distinct smokey flavours of Kisa’s signature dishes. Dinner and a show, what’s not to love.

With impeccable food, an exciting drinks list, and a welcoming vibe, Kisa will take your tastebuds on an overseas adventure, no passport required. Kisa means ‘short’ in Turkish but we sure hope this buzzy spot sticks around for a long time.
