Mr Brightside
We’ve said it before but we’ll say it again: rooftop bars are the shiz and Christchurch’s rooftop bar, Mr Brightside, is proving just why. With stunning 360-views over the Port Hills, Avon River, and Cathedral Square, this gem is the perfect spot to kick back and take in the views or the people (if you’re into people-watching) with a cocktail in hand, of course. Their cocktail list is home to some bangin’ classics, while their food menu is packed with delicious bites. With the ethos to always look on the bright side of life, you can't help but fall in love with this snazzy spot.
Bar Yoku
If you love Japanese food as much as we do then head to Bar Yoku in Christchurch for a unique dining experience like no other. Inspired by Tokyo's Izakaya alleys, you can experience a slice of Japan’s wonderful culture by sinking your teeth into the smokin’ Yakitori, epic sushi tacos, and fresh raw fish. Don’t mind if we do. The botanical-infused cocktail list is home to a variety of Japanese spirits and if sake is your tipple of choice, then there’s a dedicated menu to whet your whistle. Mora Wines & Aristan Kitchen
If you’re a bit of a wine connoisseur then you’ll know that Mora Wines & Artisan Kitchen (formerly Akarua) is home to some of the best vino around. Just like their wine, their food is no different. Treat yourself to a boujee brekkie or a luxurious lunch at this stunning eatery in Central Otago, where you can wine and dine on duck liver pate, seared prawns, market fish ceviche, and buttermilk fried chicken while sipping on a variety of divine drops in the beautiful garden setting. Can life get much better? We think not.
Bella Cucina
If you’re a lover of all things pasta then come and spaghett it (we had to) at Queenstown’s best Italian restaurant. Bella Cucina are the great dons of Italian fare, serving up freshly made pasta and pizza to the masses. Get your slurp on with the pappardelle beef ragu or you can’t go wrong with the fettuccine carbonara. If pizza is more your thing then the vegetariana with mozzarella, a medley of veg, and topped with truffle oil will certainly do the trick. It really is food for the people.
