Here at Urban List we love bringing you all the new eats in town, so we couldn’t contain our excitement when we found Red Snapper—a snazzy new fish and chip shop that caught our eye (and bellies).
Nestled into Point Chevalier, Red Snapper is a boisterous new eatery that's setting out to prove that good grub doesn’t have to be fancy and we couldn’t agree more. The menu will have you hooked in seconds, offering not only your summer staple of fish ‘n’ chips, but also a variety of burgers, tacos, hot dogs and fresh salads.
Fish and chips and the beach go hand in hand, you just can’t beat digging into the savoury, salty goodness whilst basking in the sun and with Point Chev beach just a hop, skip and a jump away it would be rude not to indulge. Grab your mates and order the fish of the day wrapped in beer batter and a squeeze of lemon (just the way we like it) pair that with the twice-cooked chips and a pot of tartare sauce and you’ve got yourself the meal of champions.
If that doesn’t float your boat then the red snapper burger will certainly hit the spot. Filled with fish of the day, lashings of tartare sauce, sour slaw, tomato, pickles and cos lettuce, this epic dish works wonders on the ol’ taste buds.
Their fish tacos will definitely have you coming back for more, these light bundles of joy are moreish as hell so it’s a good job you get three of these bad boys. Fish aside, the wagyu burger is a game-changer here. Served in a brioche bun, with cheese, onion, tomato, lettuce and our fave burger sauce. Get in our bellies.
Now if you’re after something on the lighter side, opt for the kokoda, a raw fish salad soaked in coconut cream, lime, chilli, onion, coriander, capsicum, fish sauce, roasted garlic and topped with crispy shallots. Jam-packed with flavour, this is the perfect light bite to keep you going.
If your tastebuds aren’t doing somersaults already, then we’ve got one more treat for you. Sink your teeth into the chilli dog—beef sausage topped with spiced beef chilli, caramelised onions, mustard, horseradish and crispy onions. You can thank us later.
Oh, and we can’t forget the variety of British sides on offer including minted peas and wait for it… curry sauce! You might even be able to get a splash of vinegar on your chips if you’re lucky.
Not only are Red Snapper offering up the freshest fish of the day, but also a real community vibe that’ll have you calling them your new local in no time. So, take the bait and check them out, after all, they're a great catch.
