Someone decorates a lovely looking Christmas Tree

Christmas is just around the corner, which means it’s time the familiar scent of pine filled your home once more—because we all know the festive season isn’t complete without an extravagantly decorated tree.

To make things easy for you, we’ve created a list of the best places to buy your Christmas tree in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland this year—now you have no reason to procrastinate. None of that fake business, it's only the real deal around here, folks, so let's stroll through the options for where to pick up the best real Christmas trees in and around town.

OG Christmas tree purveyors Misa Christmas Tree Farm really know their stuff—they’ve been around since 1940 and have become the go-to Christmas tree spot for many Aucklanders.

This Mt Eden farm has a range of sizes fit for any household and even has giant Christmas trees for the most extravagant Christmas-lover. They will also collect and recycle your tree after the season has ended because no one wants sad brown trees to go to landfill.

Mount Gabriel Christmas Tree Farms

Have you ever wanted to cut your own Christmas tree down? At Mount Gabriel Christmas Tree Farms they offer just that at either of their farms at Drury or Mangere Bridge. Committed to the environment they also accept old trees for mulching on their farm regardless of whether you bought your tree from them originally.

Tree nerds will appreciate that there are two different types of trees to choose from, the Radiata pine and the Macrocarpa, both of which have excellent needle retention, unlike the much-maligned, needle-shedding, foot-stabbing Norway spruce that you find in houses in the UK. Score.

North Shore families have been coming here for years to purchase their Christmas trees, which are available in sizes ranging from small and sweet, to downright humongous.

You'll find them inside a charmingly decorated barn heavy with the scent of pine, at the end of a long driveway (or if you're a real festive go-getter, visit from September onward and reserve a still-growing tree of your choice).

These guys also have lovely, friendly service, making them a joy to do business with.

Babylon Store

Okay so this isn't exactly your typical Christmas tree. In fact, it might just be the teeniest we've ever seen but sometimes you don't have the space to go full bush and if that's your sitch, Babylon's Picea might just be a bit of you. Take her home for just $60 and pop in a spot with indirect light watering only when the top layer of soil begins to feel dry. The best part? When Christmas is over for another year there's no need to cart her off to the big Christmas tree heaven in the sky. Instead, you can just plant her outside. Cute.
