Auckland’s Top Food And Farmers Markets

Matakana Village Farmers Market

2 Matakana Valley Road, Matakana

Grab ya mates and head up north to the Matakana Village Farmers Market, a.k.a. one of the best (and busiest) farmers markets Auckland has on offer. Located in the square, there are stalls surrounding a beautiful, lush river, so you can dine alfresco to live music every Saturday. Check out locally baked breads and pastries with a flattie made with locally roasted beans, slurp to your heart's content on Giorgio’s freshly made pasta—did we mention it’s swirled inside a giant cheese wheel? (with truffle, of course).

Don’t leave without a cup of hot healing ginger and turmeric turbo tonic and a slice of locally made seeded loaf with some of the best macadamia butter you’ll ever taste. For those who are dairy-free, get ready to have your mind blown with the epic array of dairy-free cheeses (one word: Karmesan). They even have a dedicated doggo sitting service, so you can drop your pet off and browse the stalls. Pop up the road to check out the vintage wares, local crafts and veggie stalls while you’re there too. 

They're also running Matakana Wine Night Market on Fridays hosted by Matakana Winegrowers. Sip on local wines with authentic pizza from Italian In The Village, and acoustic jams from Stephon Battour from 5-8pm.

The Shed Collective

99 Parrs Cross Road, Henderson

Home of the Cosmic Garden Flower Farm, The Shed Collective is on rain or shine every Saturday and one of the best weekend markets Auckland has to offer. Selling local, artisan, organic and spray-free wares from up to 35 vendors every week, we’re eyeing up the good-for-your-gut bliss balls, natural soaps, spray-free veggies, herbal iced teas, and mindfully-made vessels from local potters. This is definitely worth the wander out west for a wholesome day out. 

Their gardens and beautiful heritage apple shed are also available for hire for events and weddings. Plus, you can also pick up spray-free blooms by the bucketful from their flower farm—message them to secure your bunch asap.

Matakana Country Market

RD5/1151 Leigh Road, Matakana Country Park, Matakana

If you're up for the whole weekend in Matakana, then Matakana Country Park is the place to be for their Friday & Sunday markets. It's a fun family day out with face painting, cute cupcakes, wood-fired pizza, and browsing the variety of stalls under the lush trees. From locally grown and made goods, coffee and pastries, to food trucks and crafts. There's even a bouncy castle, electric go-karts, pony rides and a mini train, and they're dog-friendly (leads on). 

When: Fridays 5pm-9pm and Sundays 9am-2pm (with the last one for the season on Kings Birthday weekend, and summer dates starting again on Labour weekend).

Catalina Bay Farmers’ Market

Hudson Bay Road Extension, Hobsonville

Head out to Hobsonville Point for the weekend markets at Catalina Bay. An indoor and outdoor market by the water with live music and local stall holders, including some of best grilled koftas you'll ever taste from Mumma Bears, then cool down with an açaí bowl from Purple Vibes. You can also get your fresh kaimoana from North Harbour Fish Market—from fresh ceviche and sashimi, to oysters by the half-dozen.

Clevedon Village Farmers’ Market 

107 Monument Road, Clevedon

Founded in 2005 in the Clevedon Showgrounds, Clevedon Village Farmers’ Market offers a genuine farm gate to plate experience, focusing on fresh produce and locally sourced kai. Those who sell at the markets are growers, farmers or food producers, or makers with materials they have harvested or grown themselves. With over 60 permanent and seasonal stalls, this focus offers market punters the real farmers market deal. Don't leave without an Aotearoa-made chorizo hot dog (pro-tip: do add on pickles and cheese) from Salash, and stock up on all your Salash dry-cured meats and salami while you're there too.

Britomart Saturday Market

Takutai Square, Britomart

From the organisers of Takapuna market, this inner-city hub kicks off every Saturday. With lots of delicious eats and stalls selling baked goods, coffee, flowers and jewellery—from a freshly-brewed cuppa chai to freshly baked doughnuts and cookies. Check out the list of vendors here.

Food Truck Collective

Various Locations, Auckland

If you’re a bit like us and always get food FOMO, we recommend hitting up the Food Truck Collective events across Tāmaki. From ramen to vegan burgers, they’ve got everything for everyone and are on almost every day (and night) of the week, making this the perfect option for groups and picky eaters. From daytime eats (Britomart Food Truck Wednesdays) to evenings in the ‘burbs and pop-ups at MOTAT, follow their socials to find out when their next round up of food trucks are parking up near you.

Parnell Farmers’ Market & Craft Harvest 

545 Parnell Road, Parnell

Held at the Jubilee Building every Saturday morning, grab a coffee and stock up on fruit, veggies, meat, flowers, cheese and other deli produce. Rain or shine, you'll find the Parnell Farmers' Market in the car park of the building that is home to the Parnell Community Library. From organic produce, microgreens and locally grown oyster mushrooms, there's always a selection of great fruit and veg here. Don't leave without Basque's famous 4-hour slow-cooked brisket sandwich and a slice of gooey basque cheesecake to finish.

Keep an eye out for Craft Harvest markets, which run alongside the Parnell Farmers' Market on the fourth Saturday of every month.

Grey Lynn Farmers’ Market

For sustainable shopping, the Auckland icon Grey Lynn Farmers' Market is an absolute must. Located in the Grey Lynn Community Centre, this weekly market brings in the heart of Grey Lynn with delicious produce from local growers and treats from your neighbourhood bakers. From certified organic producers (like Bio VG, BND Farms and Jersey Girls Milk) to Helena's Sonntag vegan cheese spreads, to crepes, breakfast burritos and japanese omelette. 

When: Sundays 8.30am-12pm

275 Markets

121R Bader Drive Parking, Māngere Town Centre

Recently licensed as 275 Markets this year and now in a more spacious location, this is Māngere’s largest community market with family-run businesses selling fresh fruit and veggies, along with all the great vibes and local entertainment for your weekly shop. With a huge community presence (with stalls having had the kids take over, plus a food truck named after nana), this market is the celebration of community through and through. Check out the multi-cultural street food eats with Brazil-style hotdogs, pineapple pies, skewers and lamb buns to name a few of the exciting snacks in the line-up. 

When: Every Saturday, 7am-2pm

Māngere Bridge Village Sunday Boutique Markets

Check out the Māngere Bridge Village Sunday Boutique Markets for food, produce and local crafts. Grab a bite from Mama's Hangi with hāngī and fried bread, chowder or Mama's pork bone boil-up (with all the doughboys and watercress trimmings). Save room for steamed pud and custard after you've done a walk-around the village.

Avondale Sunday Markets 

Avondale Racecourse, 23 Elm Street, Avondale

One of the biggest and oldest one-day markets in Aotearoa is the Sunday market in Avondale. With a vast selection of produce from all over the Pacific and Asia, this is definitely an Auckland institution and a must-experience. Check out the car boot sales, fresh kaimoana, specialty food items, vibrant plants for sale and unique vegetable seedlings to start your own garden. The produce deals here are hard to beat, so we definitely recommend getting in early (stallholders are there by 5am to secure their spot) to get your veggie haul.

When: Sundays 5am-12pm

Ōtara Market

Ōtara Town Centre, Newbury Street, Manukau

One of the most popular markets in Tāmaki Makaurau is the Ōtara Markets. Located at the carpark behind Ōtara Town Centre, this is the go-to market for affordable and fresh local produce (and seedlings for the green thumbs too). Check out their range of clothing (new and second-hand), arts and crafts (including korowai, kete and Samoan jewellery), fruit and veg, plus a diverse range of food offerings. From freshly squeezed sugar cane juice from Seng Kee, Fuyuan Kitchen's crispy char siu filled breads, freshly baked rēwana bread, to fresh kaimoana, there's something for everyone here. 

When: Every Saturday, from 6am-12pm (unless it's a public holiday)

Karaka Market

113 Harbourside Drive, Karaka

Held at the Karaka Learning Centre in Papakura, Karaka Market has currently wrapped up at the time of writing for the season, but will return in October for the next season. Run monthly, expect local eats and a slice of country chill with ponyrides, indoor and outdoor set-up with food trucks parked outside and artisan vendors both outside and inside the hall. From dosas to pad Thai, pizzas and smash burgers, plus the coffee van for your morning brew, make your way there when they open again later this year.

When: Monthly during their market season (usually from October to April, check socials for updates).

Craft And Artisan Markets

Central Flea

170 Balmoral Road, Mount Eden

Auckland’s biggest vintage and second-hand market is back for the year. Located in the carpark of the iconic Junk & Disorderly, Central Flea is one of the OG spots for finding hidden treasures (in Auckland, vintage markets really don't come better than this). There are over 100 vintage and handmade stallholders, as well as a delicious range of food trucks from yakitori to smash burgers. Can't beat a Sunday market at the Flea! 

When: Sundays 8am-1pm (Note that their dates are up for their 2026 Summer Series online)

Long Bay Village Market

55B Glenvar Ridge Road, Long Bay

We’re loving the family-friendly and chill summer vibes at the Long Bay Village Market. From locally crafted charcuterie, fresh off the (iron) press crepes, freshly baked buns, to seaside treasures, jewellery and beautiful hand-crafted wooden furniture—we’re here for it all. 

When: Monthly (fourth Sunday of each month), 9am-2pm (Note 2026 dates are set for February 22nd and March 22nd so far)

Waiheke Ostend Market 

29 Belgium Street, Ostend, Waiheke Island

A ferry ride over to Waiheke Island isn’t complete without a trip to the local markets. On every Saturday morning in the most beautiful location, this market has an array of local wares, including organic fruit and veg grown right on the island (from Church Bay). This market provides a welcoming space for those vendors introducing their products, as well as stalls for kids. Check out the local chocolate company, Island Batch, offering tastings of their bean to bar chocolate. 

When: Saturdays 8am-1pm

Kumeū Market

Kumeū Showgrounds, 35 Access Road, Kumeū

Based at the Kumeu Showgrounds (and a working farm, so no doggos sorry) is the Kumeū Market, held every third Sunday of the month. Get ready for local jams from talented musicians young and old, fresh crêpes (from Sweet As Crêpes), and colourful Kiwiana arts and crafts to name a few (there's space for over a hundred vendors, so definitely worth checking out). 

Side note: As a working farm, there are plenty of sheep running around, but if you’re here for the other farm animals, definitely check out the Kumeū Show when it next rolls around.

When: Third Sunday of the month, 9am-2pm (next market scheduled for February 15th)

Mount Eden Village Craft Market

449 Mount Eden Road, Mount Eden

When it comes to craft markets, Auckland peeps won't find better than this one in Mount Eden Village, which has been running since 2008 and is home to one-of-a-kind gems made by local creatives. From intricately crafted jewellery to cross-stitching kits, handmade chocolates, homewares and skincare, all set in the beautiful old buildings in Mount Eden Village. With their first market date scheduled for February 14th this year, follow their socials to stay up to date. 

When: Second Saturday of the month, 9.30am-3pm 

Takapuna Sunday Markets

Waiwharariki Anzac Square, 38 Hurstmere Road, Takapuna

Make a trip over to the shore (there’s a direct bus from Auckland CBD), and find the Takapuna Sunday markets at the heart of Takapuna. Serving Takapuna for 35 years (and counting), they’re now located at the new Waiwharariki Anzac Square, just minutes from the beach. Grab a coffee and snack, and soak up the beachside market vibes.

When: Sundays 7am-12pm

The Market Collaborative At Smales Farm

Goodside, Smales Farm, Takapuna

The creators of Coatsville Markets (which sadly closed last year) are back and bringing North Shore’s ultimate Sunday market, The Market Collaborative at Smales Farm—focusing on fresh, organic and sustainable goods and produce from Auckland’s leading artisans all within the leafy and relaxed environment of Smales Farm. Expect everything from ceramics, biltong to hot sauce—if you're after a little something to gift, you're sure to find it here. Check out their socials for when the next market is on.

Titirangi Village Markets

500 South Titirangi Road, Titirangi

Take a drive through the Waitākere Ranges to Titirangi Memorial Hall and carpark, where you’ll find the monthly Titirangi Village Markets. As one of the largest markets in Auckland, they have been running since ‘91 by parents as a school fundraiser for Titirangi Rudolf Steiner School. Load up on fresh produce, listen to live music, snack from food trucks and pick up one-of-a-kind crafts and vintage items from talented makers. 

When: Last Sunday of every month from 10am-2pm (starting 22nd February 2026)

St Heliers Art & Craft Market

Vellenoweth Green, 353 East Tāmaki Drive, St Heliers

Previously the Mission Bay Art & Craft Market, this market now has a new home at St. Heliers at the waterfront. Browse arts, crafts, designer fashion and tasty bites to bring in the first market of the year. There are over 200 stalls, from specialty hot chillies, natural treats for your doggos, to local artists and writers speaking at events. This event takes place every Auckland Anniversary and Labour Day, so keep an eye out on socials for their next event.

Celestial Markets 

Various Locations, Auckland

Run by Celestial Corner (who are now based online for all that brat-fit-check inspo), the Celestial Markets are a platform for up and coming independent artists and designers in Aotearoa, showing the best in Alternative and Aotearoa-made. From jewellery to illustrations, gently-loved clothing that has been given a new artistic lease on life, to unique one-off creations, this market is a vibe. As well as celebrating pride in Feb, their busiest markets are during Matariki in July, Halloween in October, and Kirihimete in December.

General Collective Lifestyle And Design Market 

Various Locations, Auckland

Started by Rose Barbarich in 2012, the General Collective began as a boutique and an idea to give a fresh take on traditional markets—showcasing a curated range of creative talent. Their flagship event happens every year at the Auckland Showgrounds, with various events across Auckland before and after this main event. Auckland Night Market

Ever wanted to get your market fix midweek? Well, now you can at the Auckland Night Markets that are open Tuesday through to Sunday at various locations around Auckland. Bring plenty of coins and those extra roomy pair of pants because there are so many food vendors you'll want to try a little something from all of them. So many of our Auckland faves started food reps here, and we are here for all the snacks.

Vegan Night Market (Last Thursdays) at Brothers Brewery Mount Eden

5 Akiraho Street, Mount Eden

Gone are the days when your vegan friends only get the choice of a salad at a group dinner out. Cue the Vegan Night Market, which takes place on the last Thursday of every month (now at Brothers Brewery in Mount Eden). Not only can you pop in for a cool pint, but you can eat all the delicious plant-based goodies to your heart’s desire from woodfired pizzas to cookies, along with live music (and a chiropractor service at their most recent market at the time of writing too). Jump on their socials to check out each month’s changing line-up. Come hungry (and thirsty).

Pop-Up Markets

Grey Lynn Car Boot Market

Running since 2011, Grey Lynn Car Boot Market was founded by Grey Lynn 2030, a collective focussed on building a positive, self-reliant and sustainable community. It's like a collective garage sale, with people selling second-hand items from a table, mat or even from their car boot (plus if you're after a new year clear out, you can reserve a car-sized stall space for an easy $30, but book ahead via their Humantix site and turn up early in the morning to guarantee yourself a spot).

When: Last Sunday Of The Month 8.30-11.30am

Frieda Market

Frieda Margolis, 440 Richmond Road, Grey Lynn

A snug wine bar with intimate and unplugged gigs and vinyl in West Lynn, also transforms into a lively market on the first Saturday of each month. There’ll be vinyl spinning and preloved treasures as well as trinket treasures and freshly baked goods (we’re eyeing up the cookies).  Start your weekend in style and head over to Frieda’s.

Queers and Wares

Various Locations, Auckland 

From Olivia Coupe's Queer AF is the biggest annual Queers and Wares market, and has been running markets across Tāmaki Makaurau, celebrating pride with Queer Centred events and creative works from over 25 LGBTQ+ artists in the community, since it was established in 2018. From vintage plants, tarot, ceramics to one of a kind art pieces, keep an eye on their socials for more info and for the next market.

Filipino Markets

Various Locations, Auckland

If you haven’t had Filipino BBQ, you haven’t lived. We recommend you make a beeline to the next market stat, for beautiful live music and all the charcoal BBQ, Filipino-style. We’re talking lechon, charcoal skewers and if you find a bottle of sinamak (Filipino spiced vinegar, last seen via Namit), make sure you douse your BBQ’d meats to take the flavour to the next level. Don’t forget to finish with Filipino sweets, including the leche flan and classic halo-halo—a texturally refreshing, quintessentially summertime (or anytime) treat.

Pocket Market

Various Locations, Auckland

This market is a blend of Japanese and Kiwi culture with over 35 stalls of local artists, bakers and businesses. Made possible in collaboration with Wonder Journal and friends, this market takes place at various spaces across Auckland, including the beautiful Pah Homestead grounds as a regular spot (conveniently next to Hill House Cafe too, which means a cinnamon-baking break is most definitely needed), and Takutai Square in Britomart from time to time (the last one in the city was their beautifully curated selection of local art, ceramics, florals and food in December last year). Follow their socials to keep an eye out for timings and what stalls will be on offer.

Luna Bites Market

Various Locations, Auckland

The latest food market has our appetites growling—enter Luna Bites Market. Having almost opened a year since the time of this update, they’re bringing stacked snack line-ups across Tāmaki Makaurau. From Takanini to their debut in Henderson last week, and even out to Pukekohe, this market is all about championing local food businesses across the city and we’re here for it. From Asian-inspired smashies, freshly whisked matcha, famous New York-style cookies, loaded nachos with ramen—and that’s just to name a few of the exciting food and drink offerings.

Open Circle Markets

Various Locations, Auckland

Open Circle Markets has entered the night markets chat—having opened late last year, they’re about supporting Aotearoa makers and bakers, from food to thrift markets across Tāmaki Makaurau. Having debut at Victoria Park, they are also turning carparks across the ‘burbs into weekly Friday night markets, bringing community and local businesses together in one place. Keep an eye on their socials for the next market space coming soon near you.
